Actually, I do some comments about how my waist length hair is "too boring" for them. Once, some crazy woman asked me if I were too cheap to get a hair cut!!

Take it from someone who has been there.....the things that are pointed out in high school....ie your red hair is one thing that will make you attractive and draw people to when you are older.
I am a natural blonde with green eyes. I always wished I had brunette hair/blue eyes like the rest of my family but I was the odd ball. I didn`t feel like i fit in, and remarks were made at school about me being adopted because I didn`t look like everyone else.
Once I got away from high school and got into college, I learned that diversity is good. You really don`t want to look/be like everyone else -- it makes u boring.

ps...the cheerleaders and jock type chicks that were part of the in crowd that made remarks and were mean to me in high school? well at the 10 year reunion they looked horrid. Not many guys were hanging around them either. I guess it has somethin to do with being so shallow?? ;)
Keep your chin up -- beautiful *natural* red hair is not something you can get out of a bottle! :)
Hair type: fine but thick; natural blonde with 15% grey
Not Quite back to good health, but getting there! I have been cane free for 4 days which is an accomplishment! :)
I will give you the reader`s digest version:
in nov 98 i broke 5 vertebrae and tore the muscles off the right side of my spine, so my spine was weak already. in aug, the gal that rear ended us was going 45 mph and we were stopped at an intersection (she was looking at the mtns). my neck and hips went forward while the center torso stayed put by the seatbelt -- more torn muscles and herniated disks but no broken bones this time.
Basically, the weight of my hair was putting strain on my neck and back. (Yeah, I don`t get the back part either.) Sit up staight then look up at a 45 degree angle that will give u an idea of the placement of my neck...its being pulled that way by the weight of my hair and the muscles are healing that way. I didn`t realize how severe it was until I was fitted for a back brace, its not as noticable bc I have a curve to my shoulders.
Surgery in 2 years to resolve all this and hope to have long hair again by 2010!! :)

Do you ever get jealous, dirty and catty remarks and looks from short haird women?
A couple of year ago my hair had mever seen hair products heat product or anything that would damage it. untill I had people throw gum in it or they would cut to much. I had nightmares about my hair (stupid) but I did. now I know why I was fighting with my boyfriend one day. I ended up falling asleep to find ALL my hair beside me, not attached. I lost it. I had lost 26 and a half INCHES. It took me a good 5 or 6 years to grow. My hair is now 8 inches. Im having a very hard time growwing it back. So I do believe that people get very jealous of beautiful long shiny hair. alot people have trouble taking care of there on hair.

Having someone cut off your hair without your consent is abuse. I am sorry that Brianna went through that.
I have had some weird things said to me about my hair in job interviews from other women. (I am a women by the way) I lump in negative comments about my long hair with the insults about my fat butt, pimples etc. It is just rude and ignorant to make comments like that about people`s physical appearance. A woman once asked me if I thought that going my hair long would make me more sexually attractive to men. ??? I grow my hair to suit myself, not anyone else.
About 8 years ago, While I was in college, I was at a downtown bar where I met a couple of girls who were pretty drunk. One passed out and the other pulled out a pair of scissors to give her friend an unrequested "trim" of her ponytail from midback to above her ears. Well I stopped her and told her it was too mean a thing to do to her "friend". She explained she really needed a haircut and she would thank her for it later. Whether I prefer long or short hair on a girl was irrelevant at this point. It wasn`t right. Well I wouldn`t let her do it. Me and a couple buddies took her back to our apartment to sleep it off. NO, WE DID NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HER!! The next day as she came around, she explained she never drank that much before, and her friend had prompted her to keep drinking more and more despite her protests she she had enough. She thanked me for my gallantry and we were friends for the rest of my time there. She also introduced me to some of her very attractive friends, that I would never have met otherwise. I would like to encourage others to have some feeling for others and step in where necessary to defend those who could use your help. Whether it be a victim of a scissor happy friend or a gal who is too drunk to say no to a guy`s advances. We all make mistakes sometimes and hopefully someone will be there to help us, so be there for someone else.

Ironically, when I see a short-haired woman who used to have long, gorgeous hair, I give her a dirty look.
Hey Gord,
What if you see a woman you know had long stringy thin split hair who cut it off and it looked a lot healthier? Just curious, do you ever approve of shorter hair on any woman? I know overall you strongly support long hair, as in what responses I have read here and other hair talk boards in my short time online here. But are you strictly a long hair fundamentalist? Nothing wrong with that. Do you have long hair?
As for me, I believe some people were not naturally meant to have long hair even if they can grow it long. I believe I am one of those people. I think there`s a preset length that hair will start breaking off at.
When I had long hair, I noticed some people, both male and female, would avoid my eyes. Some women would glance away after I saw a spark of hatred in their eyes. Some men would glance away after I busted them looking. My husband said it is because I am attractive and that makes some people who aren`t happy uneasy. I hated this response. I chopped my hair off because I didn`t want to be seen as a `threat` by women or an `object` by men. Nobody looks at me that way anymore and I like my new anonymity.

I`ve definitely gotten comments that aren`t so pleasant. I live in an area in the country where people are expected to all look alike, so just being a redhead makes me different. Then, add having 42 inches of hair on top of that... I`ve had people suggest I should cut my hair off and donate it to children with cancer. ( I don`t retaliate by telling them they should sell their luxury cars and donate the excess money to charity so I don`t see why they think they can tell me what to do with my hair.) I`ve had people ask how I could stand having so much hair. People are just uneasy with someone who chooses to look different. I don`t flaunt my hair. I usually keep it in a conservative French braid. I am what I am. I`m not going to cut my hair to please these people.
(BTW, the comments always come from women with short hair in the latest styles. Men either like my hair or ignore it, but they never get as offended as women do.)
