I have had compliments from people when I had burgandy... Right now, I have Reddish Brown and was told that it looks good also. I think anything with red looks good with asians.
For many asians, they'd look good in chestnut brown, deep red, auburn, light brown, chocolate brown and praline brown. Any hint of gold and red look good on most asians. Burgundy is considered a wild color and can suit many, but I'm not a big fan of cherry or burgundy colors 'cause they look icky on me but gorgeous on others depending on their skintone. L'oreal Excellence Hi-color especially made for dark hair produces deepest and vibrant shades (available at Sally Beauty stores). I'm a big fan of vibrant non-orange reds, esp. on long hair.
*I've been reading how it's a huge fad now in Japan for women(and some men) to color their hair brown or auburn/red. I guess a very large percentage of Japanese girls and women 18-35 yr. old age group are doing this and the middle aged and older Japanese are horrified at this. They think that the young Japanese are attempting to westernize themselves too much. I believe it's just a fad or trend and that eventually most of the young Japanese people will go back to their naturally dark hair. Of course I could be wrong about that. Who knows? *I have also read that the younger generation of Japanese, because of their change in diet, eating more meat and potatoes and western food, are bigger and taller than previous generations. *That isn't all good, a western diet isn't necessarily healthier than a traditional Japanese diet.

The reds for asian is much darker than for say Irish so it compliments the asian features, and blends nicley i dont think its a fad since the darker reds seem quit natural indeed. The hue is still quit dark, and looks good on young shinny hair. Joe Coleman

it doestn look so bad as long as u arent too fair (oriental)
Cool! Platinum blonde color is one of my favorites...but very very high maintenance lol. I plan for platinum blonde highlights. What toner will you get, Sprockett? Are you asian?
I'm Chinese-American. I have black hair. I've never had the desire to wear my hair any other color. Dark hair is natural for me and it's my belief that brunette hair looks best on most Asians.

Wow Platinum Blonde. I think that's a little too blonde for me. I had my hair Chestnut brown, Reddish Brown, and almost Blonde. I'm back to my natural hair color again but I'm EXTREMELY tempted to dye my hair as my friend put it opossom blonde or ash blonde. If I keep on going to the beach or at least have a decent tan all year around I can pull it off I think? O_o
BTW. How much does it usually cost to bleach asian hair to a nice blonde color?

It depends. It's better to find an open-minded colorist who can color Asian hair because most do not or recommend against it. I had my highlights done by an Asian hairdreser without any protest and did a great job. Foiled highlights are expensive but worth it. As for DIY, it can accummulate a lot of moola if you're not doing it correctly. It takes about 2 to 4 rounds of bleaching Asian hair to pale yellow with 40 volume developer. It's insane. But it depends on each individual and it certainly will fry your hair if you're not careful. That's why I said highlights are better if you want to be a pale blonde, be it ash blonde or beige blonde. I think Asians look better with beige blondes than ash or golden blondes. A hint of warmth without too much warmth or ashy tones.
A new haircolour for men just arrived at my shores. Its frrom the company Gatsby from Japan. They have really interesting shade like, rust ash, beige ash, khaki ash, and even just plain old bleach

I just do not see why anyone would want to dye their black hair another colour. But then...I want black hair.
I think that purple can look good too. Either in chunks or stripes or all over. It looks really effective on darker Asian skin and looks quite gothic/punk. think that's a good look, and a bit different.
as for something conservative, I think red-based colours look best.
*laughs* I've gotten similar things from people who couldn't understand why I would dye over my brown hair. . . generally from black-haired people who would be happy dyeing theirs brown. . . I guess it's all relative.

I prefer black. I really hate blonde (be it on a american, european or asian woman. It just looks fake, and it makes me feel sick (honestly, my stomach starts causing me grief).
Black thick hair. whether its wavy, curly, or straight. It looks beautiful! Especially when oiled. Natural hair is always best :).
If its brown, then thin/fine hair. Thick oils like olive don't work well with fine hair! My father has fine, brown, straight hair and it looks like he has loads of bald patched all over when he uses olive oil >.<.
Whereas my mother has Frizzy wavy black hair (its kind of thick, doesnt seem like it) and when its oiled it look pretty cool (she uses lighter oils, such as jojoba.)
However, my siblings and I have very thick, coarse, straight, black hair. Its a nightmare, however, when we apply a mixture of olive oil and water, it looks very cool!
We're asian, but Pakistani, and its said that we have caucasoid hair, but I dont think so, its very different to western hair; and very similar to Chinese and Japanese hair (or far-eastern countries).

I'm now blonde and I love it. A lot of people compliment me on it, but now I want to go lighter. hehe. Platinum is so tempting...and hard to find a professonial person to do it for me. I have a lot of hair and beauticians always frown on that. =( If anyone can recommend me a place where they can do a good job please do. I live in Southern California near LA. Thanks.
How blonde is your hair punkrawk? A lot of Asian people seem to have pretty blonde hair, but I rarely ever see any with it. It can look gorgeous done right.
