hi there
I know some people out there are gonna say
"why do want to that" "dont do that" and yada yada.
They think that its just weird that people wont follow their own perspective on hiw should ones wear their hair.

Ok
enough with my rambling.
I seen this style a lot on many chinese, korean and japanese people. It is easy to do this style if you have naturally curly or wavy hair, some asian's are blessed (or cursed which ever way you see it) with that.
But if you dont, get a perm. That is I think the only way to get an afro.

I have a medium afro and it took a while to grow. I gave it a year and want it longer. Anyways,

shaved heads grow pretty fast (At least from what I've seen). The roots are exposed to more oxygen.

To help your hair grow, just keep it healthy by eating lots of protein, not coloring it or treating it roughly, and most importantly, giving it time.

You can find tons of more advice from the people who are growing their hair out in the Long Hair forum.

Once it gets long and you get bothered by it, just perm it and it'll be off your face and continue to grow.

you have to remember that when you get a perm, your hair will become up to 4 inches shorter depending on how tight the curls are.

oh yeah
i have a mini afro now. i just dont use any thing.
it grows naturally afro and curly. mayn old chinese women here are jelous with my curlyness. not exactly to be proud of.

hair is basically PROTEIN. so eat more protein like seeds, nuts, soy beans, other beans, meats. you can take protein powders or liquids or pills for extra help. also biotin helps your hair (and nails) grow faster, thicker, and longer. they also make some people break out in pimples really bad. there are also hair, skin and nail vitamins. you can buy all that stuff online (do a websearch) or at a health food store.

hair grows an average of 6 inches per year. asian hair is said to grow even faster and since it is so straight and heavy it shows the full length so you should have enough to curly perm 6months to a year depending on how small the rods are. for an afro, you should go to a stylist and get a curly (poodle/afro) perm.

good luck and have fun

I am asian just like the person who started the thread. My hair is quite long and I am debating the perm. How do I take care of it so I can maintain its shape?
