Hi Chrissy; Do you know a good Stylist? There Should be no embarrassment if there is someone you trust. That being said...its a tough thing to tell you how to strip color (especially dark color) out of hair.
What kind of condition is your hair in??
I'm going to recommend calling a good Salon and asking some questions...If they make you feel embarrassed over the phone don't go there.
Some good questions to ask might be;
Do you have experience in correcting color?
What do you charge? (They won't answer that one without a consult...)
Explain what happened...Keep the box of the color you used.
See how you feel about their professionalism??
Be assertive its your hair...You can put color on it if you want...You will be paying them, not the other way around.
Chrissy - If I might suggest, don't ever let someone else's comment make you do something to yourself. Next time ask yourself "do I like my color" if the question is yes, then don't change it becasue of someone else's comment. Remember - you can't please everyone, please yourself. That being said. Depending on the condition of your hair you can do one of two things. If it is in bad condition go to a specialist. If it is great condition, you can go to a salon supply store and get some color remover. There are some gentle ones on the market. I hope this helps. Keep us posted and good luck!

If your hair was VERY blonde before you started, it is not in good enough condition to go to a beauty supply store and try stripping it your self.....There are New Color removers out that are much better for hair...but you will not find them at a beauty supply store.JMO
