I've been wanting to put purple streaks in my hair for the longest time, and now that school is out I'm finally not bound by the dress code. I have dark brown hair and really want a vivid color. I've been thinking of maybe lilac and a darker violet streaks. What's the best way to go about achieving the look I want? Where would the probably look best? Can I do this at home or is it best to go to a professional? What brands do you suggest?

Thanks a bunch.

If your hair is dark brown, then you will have to bleach your hair first. There are different brands, punky colors, manic panic, fudge. They make all different colors of the rainbow. I would wait a day after you bleach to add the color. The purple dye won't damage your hair but the bleach will if you leave it on too long. So maybe only do a few small streaks or just the tips of your hair, to keep it healthy looking. I hope this helps.

Go to a salon.
Its simple as that. If you need to bleach and then colour go to a salon. Its tedious and dangerous. Besides you are doing streaks, it going to be hard to do it yourself. Save time, and money from trying to repair your mistakes by going to a salon. Dont make mistakes like the guy who fried his hair form so many DIY jobs

I think it depends on how willing you are to deal with a mistake. My helpful hints are to just do the front two strands, it's much easier, and I think cooler looking. As to what brand of dye to use after bleaching, I think Special FX is the best without a doubt. It holds much longer, and doesn't fade to the nasty colors the others do. The manic panic bleach kit works very well, and if nothing else, you can just leave front strands white blonde like Rogue from X Men.

I like rogue's looks. Its nice =)
Hey you know Jean's hair changed also Storm's hair. Jean does not have that red of hair in the first movie. Storm had longer hair before and longer bangs.

I like Rouge's hair too but white hair is really hard to get and it's not totally white anyway.
Storms hair was white but occasionally had a Septic yellow tinge in some lights. It's a wig(unless Halle Berry has magic hair) so they should have gotten a whiter one.
