What's the difference btw salon color and the box one? A lot of people suggest going to salons to do your hair, but doesn't salon color contain the same ingredients as the box one?

no..salon colors sometimes contain less of the harsh ingredients that salon colors carry..It differs per brand. Also-its important to inform people to go to a salon because Ive seen several people get themselves into huge hair disasters(just check out these boards) and have to end up going to specialists to get their hair fixed anyway..Which comes at a high price...

Salon brands (several of which are available at beauty supply stores) come in a lot more colors than you can get at the local drug store. They usually say what the base color is, which can make it a whole lot easier to choose your color. Also, several brands use a similar numbering system, which can also make finding a color easier. I like Wella, myself, because there are soooooo many colors to choose from.
