I just got cold fusion hair extensions about 2 weeks ago. I paid $4,000 for them thinking that I would go to the best place so that I would have a quality healthy procedure. When one fell out today, I noticed that the roots of my natural hair came out too. I freaked out, and looked closely at all the other extensions on my head and noticed that most of them each had 5-10+ hairs plucked out of my scalp. There are only about 20-50 hairs in each extention. I've been using a normal brush, and have just learned that I was supposed to be using a special brush. I even asked the day I was having them done and she said, no, any normal brush would do. Now I feel like I am going to go bald. Should I remove them now because they are only hanging on 1/2 the amount of hair as initially? Someone please help me!!! Help, Help, Help!!!

Jesus Christ!
Run quickly back to salon and tell them to do something-ANYTHING.
Without seeing your hair it´s hard to say what´s going on but is there too much weight on your hair or...what.
I´ve done extensions both by weaving and glueing and NOTHING like this has never happened.
WHAT EVER´S HAPPENING IT ISN´T NORMAL!
So go guickly back and demande they´d do something about it. With that cost this shouldn´t happen IN ANY CASE!
If the stylist is unable to do anything, ask to see the manager.
In any case: demande to see the manager!!!

Oh my Gosh! You are having exactly the same problem I am having. I got Great Lengths 2 weeks ago. My bonds are coming out with my hair torn out with them. I have left two messages with the salon (the owner did them) yet they have not returned my phone call. I have even tried to contact Great Lengths. I have lost 4 bonds in 2 days. 10 all together. I am so afraid I will have bald spots. I don't know what to do.

Go PERSONALLY to the scene so the stylists can take a look of your extentions.
How ever it really sounds these folks are avoiding you- BIG TIME! It´s such a shame those kind of ...people....exist. I´m so sorry for you!
I would anyways go to the place and if no answers are heard and no questions are answered I WOULD cause a scene they´ll never forget! Ladies, it´s your hair! It´s not something enybody should start experiensing with!
Mostly salons try to avoid bad reputation and one might consider a scene would prioratice their actions...
Write down the dates and numbers when/where you have called and if nothing helps probably a consultation with a lawer would not be a bad idea at all.

one of the biggest problem with bonded extensions is that anyone can buy the kit and start putting them in. with bonded methods there are a lot of things that can go wrong because of lack of education and the chemicals needed to install/remove them. stylists are not educating their clients as to all the dos and don'ts of caring for their exntentions.

NO!NO!do not use a regular brush! use only a 100% boar hair brush. never brush or blow dry upside down. hold the pony tail part of the hair when combing it. never go to bed with your hair wet. use conditioner only on the ends. extentions are a comitment, take your time with it. if you ask anyone who has naturally long hair they will tell you that it takes more care and forethought than short.(and more conditioner).

I'm a little concerned that someone had problems with their bonds, which were attached to 20-30 hairs, coming out... I just got Great Lengths, but my bonds are only attached to maybe 10 hairs, max. She used a very, very fine section of hair for each... Do you think so few hairs can withstand extensions? How many hairs should each bond be attached to??

You sound like you are having the same problem that I had except I ended up losing up to about 4o bonds....... yep that's right 40! and needless to say my hair was attached to all those bonds. Since having them removed, I don't even have half the hair I used to have. I would run my hands through my hair and I could feel that some of the bonds were just hanging on by a couple strands. It was a horrible feeling because I knew at the end of that bond was all my hair pulled from the roots. I was only able to keep the Great Lenghts in for 2 months or I would have been bald. I found out that a medication I was on (Soriatane) was the culprit. It finally dawned on me that my own hair was getting thinner and breaking off about one month after I started taking this medicine and by putting in the extensions.... well....... I just made a bad situation worse. I called the pharmacy and they confirmed that yes hair loss is a side effect. Now I just have to wait for all my bald spots to fill in. Thank god I was blessed with really thick hair or I would in fact be looking for a wig shop right about now. Good luck! EVERYBODY NEEDS TO CHECK MEDICATION SIDE EFFECTS BEFORE PUTTING ANY HAIR EXT IN. MEDICINE CAN REALLY MESS UP YOUR HAIR.......

Before investing in a full head of hair extensions it is a good idea to have a few highlight extensions put in. If the stylist wont do it go somewhere else. You could also have mabe 10 put in on each side of your head to add a little volume. Then after a few weeks see how they are doing and also whether or not you even like them. Extensions are a big investment for something that you might not even like. Check out redsalonsource.com for a list of certified Balmain hair extension artist in your area.
Good luck and have fun not a frenzy.

I agree that it is totally and completely unacceptable that your hair is falling out and I don't want you to take this the wrong way.... but your stylist probably was duped also.
Stylists pay thousands of dollars for the training and equipment from Great Lengths, after everybody from Elle Magazine to the New York Times says they are The Best Method and totally damage free (big advertising budget)..... So, honestly, freaking out at the person is not the way to go. You have to get them to deal with you and help make it right. Bear in mind that No stylist in their right mind would intentionally mess up your hair.
The hair industry is one big Ponzi scheme these days, with big companies preying on salon owners, who in turn often screw their stylists and encourage them to pass this love along to the clients. Things really need to change.

Cleopatra......warn you before hand I am still a student so take advice with a grain of salt....

First I have a question..is there any way you can go back to the salon?....Did they have you sign a contract prior?.....If so read it even the part that you have to get a magnifying glass out to read....they could effectivly be breaking it by not returning your phone calls....it can also give you a better idea of what your options are....

I'm not sure what state you're in or if you're even in the states for that matter....but if you are the first thing I would do is look up the states consumer laws...sometimes state legislature pages are kind of messy so you can always call the better business bureau and ask them what you can do...

Now this is what I would do.....warn you again take it with a grain of salt I'm still a student....

Call back again..leave another message..lol..re-explaining my problem and tell them if they do not call me back I will cancel payment and report them to the better business bureau...Then I would take insane amount of pictures of the current damage....Then either figure out how to take them out safely or even better yet find another salon that will take them out....then take another insane amount of pictures of the damage after they are taken out.....

Worst case scenario they may threaten to take you to small claims court..i.e. Judge Judy....But a lot of times when you threaten to cancel payment and call the BBB that gets a reaction.....As a consumer you do have rights just make sure you have everything documented even down to the little insignificant things......

Is this a change of topic? What in god's name is
Cold Fusion? Wasn't that a scam science project in the movie The Saint? Seriously, can someone throw some knowledge my way? Is GL 's system called Cold Fusion?

Well, GLs has one system called Cold Fusion, but the GLs most people have are the traditional keratin-glue bonding version. As you can see, this original post was from way back when--July 2003. I haven't heard many reviews since, so I don't think too many people are getting CF. Plus, it's really expensive (obviously), even more so than the standard GLs. :)
