There's some dred-like mattes underneath my hair, above my GL bonds. After I have them removed, am I going to (easily) be able to untangle these? Is there anything I can do about them now, before removal? Any feedback from those experienced in styling or removing Great Lengths would be so much appriciated!!

Use the oil based remover to get those bonds out. Using the acetone may do more harm than good. Do a hot oil treatment, the wash with a clarifying shampoo and deep condition when the entension hair is removed. This will help keep your hair healthy.
