Heres a tip. When you clamp down on the shrinkie..reheat it til its soft again and gently but firmly with the wand/iron still clamped shut on the shrinkie slide it down the hair. Ive had no problem getting them out like this!
I had the same problem the first time I tried to remove a shrinkie. Sherrie is right, keep the heat clamp on the shrinkie as you slide it down so the glue stays pliable. You might also need to turn the heat up another notch, if possible. I found it easier with a higher heat setting.

Yup. High heat and hold it on the shrinkie. Pulling it down the hair while it's semi warm will spread the adhesive down the hair shaft more than it needs to be.
My best advice is stop at 2 glasses of wine while installing shrinkies. Use a mirror for the back no matter how great you think you're doing.
Failure to follow above guidelines will result in being at work the next day feeling up your shrinkies, finding the following:
1. shrinkie bonded 1-2" down the extension strand. 2. shrinkies cooked to hardened crisp or smashed into elongated hardened crisp. 3. shrinkie not cooked at all, but glue from pretip fused to hair.
This is a true story! I also easily pulled out about 6 strands today while obsessing about the lousy job I did at 1 am the night before. Tonight, however, with the aid of sobriety and a mirror, I added a lot more strands successfully and it's much better.
Im new to shrinkies and about to try them in a week or so. I read online that they are supposed to enlarge a bit when re-heated? Is that true? if it is maybe you could snip them off with fine tipped scissors? Just a thought Im not sure yet hehe yet to go on this adventure can't wait!
