Hmmm...I'm not sure the hair is all that resilient, really, or at least the wave/texture isn't. After wearing it for a week and washing it twice, it really is quite strawlike. I thought it was quite resilient too, but Sara's instructions suggest to me that you need to be pretty careful with it. I have heard that steam will return it to its natural state somewhat, though.

Bridget: I've tried the fabric softener and am sure it's good, but I think it's going to take a bit more than that to smooth out this hair, for me, anyway.

:)

WOW I'm actually excited to get my PH put in -- it looks like care will be so much easier!

wow, thanks for posting the link to the care Jenny, I didn't know it was there, and was getting ready to ask a lot of questions in a thread, but no need now lol

Did I read right, coloring your roots and bleaching is fine with the hair in, because it won't hold it at all? I never would've guessed that.

Also, what does sara mean by "felty" ??

I don't think you will have a problem with overhandling. It's PLASTIC after all. I think it's much more resilient than we think. I'll continue the experimentation ...

Well, I tried the fabric softener too, and I'm not noticing too much of a difference from that, but we'll see.... I'm hoping the steam rollers work better. It's weird because I don't want to overhandle the hair, but I do want to figure out what works.....

Hi Jenny

I'm experimenting with the PH before having it put in and I DEFINITELY **GOT** that this *IS* Plastic Hair! When I washed it I thought of what you said, which is that it DEFINITELY FEELS LIKE STRAW when it's wet. That's why I immediately put fabric softener on it.

I posted a pic after one wash. I'm going to put some hair products on it, keep washing, drying, experimenting, etc.

SO PLEASE ANY SPECIAL THINGS YOU WANT ME TO DO TO IT: JUST SUBMIT YOUR REQUEST!!

One thing I did is I put a hot curling iron on it while wet. It seemed to completely straighten it but I don't think it's singed. I'll know better when it's dry.

Brushing it is nearly impossible -- so I just finger-tousled it. (We are developing a relationship. ;) )

Anyway, taking requests . . .

Professor Fina

....and the saga continues....

It seems the hair has bounced back somewhat! I doused it with braid spray, wig spray, and God-knows what else last night, then put it in a tighter-than-usual braid, and it's much smoother and silkier today, and some of the wave has come back, too! The looser braid didn't seem to be doing much, but this tighter one (with the products, of course) seems to have made a big difference.

Onto the fabric softener (my boyfriend, bless his heart, ran out to get me some at 1:00 AM). And later in the day, I'll try the steam rollers.

I must say, I'm quite relieved. :)

Edit: OK, fabric softener is in (and it does smell like baby's butt...).

I've got PH in, and have had since Monday night (they're braids, but from chin to elbow-length it's loose). I've been using tons and tons of silicone spray, and just noticed that it's gotten more manageable as the week went on. Haven't tried the fabric softener...I keep meaning to, but I'm being kind of a wimp about putting laundry product on my head. :)

I've only had it in for a week, so I can't yet compare it to Done, but the PH is -definitely- better than your regular beauty-store kanekalon silky straight synth. The last time I wore this much KK silky, it knotted up after two days. This PH only gets tangled where it rubs against my back (and catches on my clothes/car seat/coat/etc), and the ends haven't even started to get frizzy.

It worked. The fabric softener softened it. (Why wouldn't it if Sara recommended it LOL)

I noticed a little roughness on day 2 and 3 and I thought "oh no, it's starting to turn." I washed my hair and put some Feria conditioner on it and then I put it in a semi-firm braid, rubbed in a little TIGI Smoothing Creme and slept on it. It's been soft as silk ever since.

It's still curling beautifully and the curl is even there after washing. You can run your fingers through to the end and it is not rough and doesn't snag one bit. The braiding at night makes it pretty, too. It holds the wave even better than human hair. I'm pretty well convinced this is going to be a great find.

I wish it were longer, more color selection for blondes and that it was on a weft. Hopefully this stuff will take off.

Edit: And also pointing out that it's still very early and it hasn't really stood a significant test of time. ::fingers crossed::

Mer: Maybe you should, then. I don't think I have any in my apartment (I'm kind of lazy when it comes to laundry).....

AMM: Are you noticing any change in texture with the thermofiber strands? :)

Interesting, Mer. Maybe I haven't fried it then. When did yours start to feel a little straw-y? Have you used a fabric softener yet? :)
