QuoteReplyTopic: Please Respond: Which celebrity has the greatest need for a hair makeover? Posted: January 11 2000 at 1:25am
While watching the new episodes of the television season, my husband and I started a debate on our favorite topic: hair makeovers. I said that Jennifer Aniston is the celeb who has the greatest need for a hair makeover. (Why does she want to be a clone of Brad's ex-girlfriend?) My husband said that Pamela Anderson Lee's style is long-overdue for a makeover. We know these stars need makeovers, but we're not exactly sure about what they should do.
Do you have an opinion about these or other celebs? Please comment.
I agree with your two but I would like to add Alanis Morisette to the top of the list and Nicole Kidman near the bottom somewhere. Also, though constantly changing but chronically bad how about Julia Roberts and Courtney Cox.

I agree with your two but I would like to add Danielle Fishel to the top of the list and Sara Michelle Gellar near the bottom somewhere and Birteny spears is Perfect hair.
Alanis Morrissette needs to realize that you can still be taken seriously as an artist and be well groomed at the same time. Jennifer Aniston is afraid of once again being recognized for her hair as opposed to her acting. Both women need hair help. Pamela Anderson should tone the color down and lose 6 to 8 inches off the bottom. She is very pretty and doesn't need bimbo hair to prove it.
This whole discussion to date seems to be largely intolerant of those who have long or very long hair. Everyone who has posted here so far has stated their preference that these women shorten their hair and ... presumably end up with hair that more closely resembles that of many shorter-haired celebrities?
Please. I can accept that any number of celebrities have short and very short hair. Why so little tolerance here for those who have long hair?
And by the way Laurie, nobody *needs* a makeover. It may be your opinion that they would look better (or whatever) if they did, but it is not a fact.
> No doubt, Angela Watson from thwe hit sitcom "Step by Step" looks great with long hair, she would also look good with an Ultra High N'Tight Pixie cut. She is so cute, and with her witty personality I could just see her getting excited over a major haircut. That's just my opinion.
** HUH? Jane Seymour has one of the most envied heads of hair on television, and she's gorgeous in it. Are you guys just on a long-hair witch hunt?
When I think of people who might benefit from a makeover, I think of women with damaged, unhealthy hair. I think of women who have tortured their hair into a color or shape that it's not, resulting in a washed-out, fake look. I think of women who have had layers of odd lengths chopped into the perimeter so that their hairstyle looks contrived rather than flowing. Geesh!
BTW, has anybody seen my idol Uma Thurman on the cover of Elle this month? Is she smashing, or WHAT?
Isn't it obvious that when I say someone "needs" a makeover it's only my opinion. I feel no need to say "this is only my opinion, but . . ." Everything anyone says on this board is an opinion.
In reference to long hair vs. short hair: I'll agree with a previous poster Keri Russell looks better with longer hair. I'm sure there are others. It just so happens that my strongest opinion is about those who are starting to look dated with their looks and need to go shorter, at least for now. It would be a refreshing change.
I don't mean to irritate anyone with "my opinion." We all have an opinion. I just want to know what others think and let them know what I think, that's all.
Have a good day!

Sheesh Dave lighten up, everyone's just having some fun here!
Before I start offering opinions on the various celebrities mentioned in the thread, I wanted to make a quick comment on the budding makeover argument. The "cutting long hair does/does not mean a makeover" discussion has been raging on the Hair Politics board off and on for a while. It really doesn't need to be dragged over here as well. If you want to discuss whether or not the cutting hair equates to a makeover, please hop over to the other board and I assure you that you will find no shortage of folks willing to debate you on it.
Almost forgot one other thing before I start. Expressing your obvious fetish fantasies in the form of an opinion isn't what this board is about and may potentially get your post yanked. Yes, Arnold Livingston, I mean you. And before a certain other poster offers his thoughts, no, Bret, Pamela Lee will not ever get a high and tight crop.
Anyway, on to the celebs mentioned...
Jennifer Aniston - Great hair. Admittedly, the "Rachel" cut was more stylish, but how can you really say her hair looks bad?
Pamela Lee - First Pammy needs some eyebrows (have I harped on that enough?). Next, as I've said before, she would look a ton better if she reverted back to the honey blonde color she first started with and ditched the proto-bimbo style she's got. The length is fine, but simple is better.
Keri Russell - I've beaten this one to death in the column. Bad, bad, bad idea. Keri should look into extensions. Hopefully in a few months it will grow enough to allow her to attempt an actual style. And don't be surprised if she starts pulling it straight as it grows.
Alanis Morrisette - Hal, Laurie, and SSJockey put her at the top and I've gotta disagree. Sure her hair is a mess most of the time, but that's her personality. When she actually takes the time to style it, it's really quite beautiful. And from my mystery celebrity pictures you can see what happens when she actually attempts a style. =)
Nicole Kidman - Hal put her near the bottom and I'd leave her off the list completely. I mean what style could you come up with that's better?
Julia Roberts - Julia has changed so much recently, it's hard to keep up. Best I can say is that her current below the shoulder length is great, though I prefer it when she lets it go wavy than pulls it straight. It's hard to say she needs a makeover when she never seems to look the same twice lately.
Courtney Cox - She's killing me. I love Courtney with long hair, just not THIS long hair. As Mrs. Flea and another reader pointed out, she looks like Morticia Adams. There was a brief period last year while she was growing it out, that she moved the part to the side and let it go wavy. It wasn't great, but looked a ton better than this. I have no idea what her plan is. I'm loathe to say she should cut it because I think she could come up with an actual style and keep the length. She just won't do it.
Danielle Fishel - Suggested by Rushboy. My only comment: "What are you, nuts?!" I mean, have you seen her? Gorgeous, thick, below the shoulders blonde hair. What could you possibly not like? She didn't make my "Best Hair on TV" list two years in a row for nothing.
Sarah Michelle Gellar - Gotta agree here. No style has come close to her look on the first season of "Buffy", which was full, shoulder length and brown streaked blonde. Now it's too blonde and has no style.
Britney Spears - Perfect hair according to Rushboy. I gotta think you switched Britney and Danielle. Britney's hair was better before going completely blonde. Plus it looked better longer, though she could probably pull of short pretty well too.
Crystal Gayle - Paul gives the generic bob to the chin response which set off Dave and Gord. I'll admit that Crystal has amazing long hair. However, it's the hair itself that's amazing and not it on Crystal. If Crystal did cut her hair, I don't think she'd even have to lose all of the length. Cutting it to her waist or mid-back would make a huge difference. And if she did go even shorter, she could wear about any style she wanted (which I've discovered from simulating some makeovers on her). I really don't ever see her cutting it though, since, to be quite honest, that's a significant part of her image and appeal (a fact lost on Keri Russell).
Jane Seymour - If you think I was being to harsh on Paul, then his suggestion that Jane should cut her hair should convince you otherwise. If you've ever seen Jane with a bob wig, you know it lookes terrible on her due to her square face. Jane just looks better with long hair and shouldn't ever take it above her shoulders.
Ok, I think that covers all the folks that everyone else pointed out, so I suppose I should toss out a few myself to give you something on which to berate me. So...
Lucy Lawless - I can live with the Xena bangs (ever seen her without bangs? Not good), but not the Xena style. Did you see her when she hosted Saturday Night Live and wore different wigs? Some looked really good and all of them make her look virtually unrecognizable from Xena. After Xena ends, she should probably go back to her natural blonde (really, she is a blonde). I'm not sure what style it should be, but nothing too short. Shoulders should be the limit with her too.
Calista Flockhart - Look at her hair in the first season of "Ally McBeal" and look at it now. 'Nuff said.
Helen Hunt - Get some bangs for Pete's sake.
Kathy Griffin - What the hell did she do to her bangs on this season's "Suddenly Susan"?
Kirstie Alley - The blonde has GOT to go. And maybe try for a style again. How did she look so good all those years on "Cheers" and then manage to look so bad now?
Catherine Zeta-Jones - Just kidding. Making sure you were paying attention.
Sheryl Crow - To paraphrase the Xmas classic, "Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow!".
Maura Tierney - Formerly of "NewsRadio", soon of "ER". Hoping she's not still wearing the stick straight look that did nothing for her.
Claire Danes - Hasn't had a hairstyle yet.
Laura San Giacomo - Straight center parted doesn't work on her at all. At least move the part. Better yet, go with the shorter layered style that she had in the first season of "Just Shoot Me".
That's all I can think of for now, so let me have it. =)

OK, no problem, I sometimes I interchange the terms.

If that is your thing, go to alt.sex.fetish.hair and post away.

She still needs a style, IMO

She is a total babe, and can do no wrong

I think she has looked better with just about any style other than what she has now.

Right again, JF

I read that Crystal once considered cutting her hair, but thought better of it. I hope everyone out there appreciates what it takes to keep up hair like hers.

Although I agree she should keep her hair long, did you see the movie "Lassiter" with Tom Selleck (c 1981) I thought she looked great with a just above shoulder legnth wig. again a beautiful woman who couldn't look bad.
> Kathy Griffin - What the hell did she do to her bangs > on this season's "Suddenly Susan"?
Kathy is NOT Bettie Paige.
> Sheryl Crow - To paraphrase the Xmas classic, > "Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow!".

Reluctantly agreed. After hearing for years how much she wants long hair I'm glad they finally let her do it. I just wish she'd wash it once in a while, or blow dry it, or do something to make it look less lifeless. On the other hand, malnutrition can have adverse effects on hair.

It looks like she has had the ends evened out as well.

On a recent "Before They Were Stars" type special they showed a clip of Calista in a soap opera, when her hair was significantly below her shoulders, and it looked good. Of course, she actually had some flesh on her back then, also. I think she could go shorter or longer, but the just brushing the shoulders look doesn't work on her.
