Christina Aguilera.. her old blonde & red look...pls help!!

I was wondering if anyone can help me with this..

I have long blonde hair with layers. Ages ago I dyed the underneath longer layers of my hair red with a semi-perminant colour (which inevitably took months and months to come out from my already bleached hair and gave the rest of it a pinky tinge!) and this time I'm looking to do it again with temporary clip in hair extensions..

I'm a bit confused what exactly I'm looking for. I saw this look being recreated where a 'curtain' of hair was attached all way around the head underneath the shorter layers. Is this what is known as weft hair, or hair on a weave?

If so where would I get this from? (bearing in mind i'm in the uk)
