I actually liked it at first. Very sexy, suprisingling good looking on her.

That said I'm over it. She just looks more slender and appealing with her short do. Glad she got a chance to experiment but hope she goes back to very short very soon.

As I mentioned earlier about Halle, Hideous!

Meanwhile, Sharon Stone looks absolutely gorgeous!!

My two cents.
We all know what opinions are like...and I've got both!

Halle is pretty so she looks nice in her long curly wig, but she does look better with her short pixie hairstyle.

It's not that big I have seen bigger. Besides let her have some fun you might see the same old Halle soon. And back to short.

"Hideous"? Really? To quote the great Indigo Montoya from "The Princess Bride", "I don't think this word means what you think it means."

Halle looks fantastic with long or short hair (though I'm not wild about the bob she sports in the current Revlon commercials). Being a bit of a fan of both curls and big hair, I do have a bit of affinity for this 'do, though I'm not wild about the styling. I'd prefer to see it side parted and more waves than curls, but even just the side part would help. And for those of you that don't like this style and thus figure that Halle just doesn't look good in long hair, go rent "The Program" from a few years back and it'll change your mind.

Anyway, as someone else said, since it's extensions anyway, don't expect it to last much longer that whatever role she got them for. Not sure she'll go back to super short since she's had some sort of wig/extension thing going for the last year or so, but you never know.

I love Halle with the short pixie cut, but I actually like it to have some texture and be a little wavy instead of short and stick straight. She looks nice with the longer hair, but it almost doesn't fit her personality. She has the good looks to pull off the short hair so I think why not go for it.

Why does everyone go ape over her pixie cut? She just looked like an ordinary dark-skinned woman; there were any countless number of people with the exact same cut.

I never *got* pixies anywa. It just sounds like a cute name for Boy-short hair on girls.

IMO, Halle looks a lot better like that. She looks like less of a common pin-up. She looked best as Storm in Xmen though, the contrast of the white hair against her skill made her look very pretty; she should dye it very light blonde too.

Check out the 2nd picture from the left, 3rd row down and that will show you why I don't like this look on Halle. Its not just the hair. Halle does not have just normal "brown skin", she has incredible skin. Smooth and even, just absolutely hot. In addition she has probably the sexiest neck, shoulders, and cheekbones of any woman I've ever seen. The hair is nice, but it just covers up parts of her that are so much nicer.... She needs to show off her features.

I agree Trout, she has very nice features.

Vineman, short hair isn't a male thing, Halle's short pixie isn't "boy short", it's a female short hairstyle, and she looks great in it, at least most of us believe that. She is hardly ordinary looking, she is prettier than most.

I also agree Trout that Halle doesn't have typical brown skin. Her mixed-race color of skin is lovely because she takes care of it and is good with makeup, I'm sure she eats healthy and takes very good care of her skin.

Women in western countries have been wearing very short hair since the 1920s. You are about 85 years behind the times if you think short hair is for boys and long hair is for girls.

Lots of men of course wear long hair too.

A pixie *is* about the lengths most guys tend to wear their hair. It doesn't mean a girl with a pixie looks like a guy, but it is still pretty much typical male length hair whatever words you put to it.

If you want to have short hair, then cut it, just don't put pretty names on it to make it sound like something else.
But it's not automatically exotic just because it's short, no more than long hair is/

I think that the reason why women and stylists label a hairstyle a "pixie" or a "bob" or any of the other hairstyle terms is so that they have an idea of what you want. If you say, I want a pixie, they can show you pictures of different pixie cuts so you can choose which you like. Sometimes it's just easier to use a name for a style as opposed to specifying every aspect of the cut. I mean, if you want a bob, do you go about describing the cut in vivid detail or do you say I want a bob and then go from there? They're only general terms but at least it gives someone a mental picture of what you want or what hairstyle you have. I think that there is a difference between guy short and women short styles because I'd never cut my hair like my dad. There was a woman on infomercials back in the '90s (I think her name was Susan Powders or something similiar sounding) who had ultra short spiky platinum hair. She had a man's haircut, Halle never has. Halle looks great either way, but if she keeps it long, I think she shouldn't wear it too stringy and in her face. Otherwise, she's super pretty and stylish.

Men wear all different hair lengths these days Vineman, where have you been.

In the cities I have lived in, (San Francisco and Chicago primarily), you see many different lengths on both men and women. There is no typical hair length for men and women in the modern era.

Now as far as Halle goes, of course she is a beautiful woman and would look good in any length of hair, but it really is no contest, she looked incredible, adorable, with her ultra short hairdo!!!

Thank you Natalia and Brent.

Exactly Natalia, a pixie is a certain short hairstyle, a certain type of cut that men usually don't wear. The same with a bob cut, it is styled to be a short women's cut.

A buzzcut or a shaved head can be worn by either gender. The same with long straight hair or long curly hair.

I think Hallie is one of the few women in Hollywood who can get away with short hair. But, her new long curly due is a bit too Diana Ross for me. I think she has on way too many hair extensions, trying to get that thicker fuller look. She should remove a track or two. I love Hallie, but not her new do.

My hair reaches my shoulders. I don't think there should be any one length for either gender, it's just silly, but I'm not a huge fan of super-short hair on anyone, and I dislike when people over-glamourise something.

Long hair doesn't get any fancy names. It's just long hair. Just like short hair is.

Halle to me has always looked best with the short hair. The long hair sort of overwhelms her.

I bought some batteries, but they weren't included.

Vineman,
I assume you are not stupid.

There are obviously different types of short hairstyles.

If a woman goes to her hairstylist and says "give me a short haircut", the stylist will obviously ask, "what type of short hairstyle do you want? A pixie, a bob cut, what style do you want?"
Nobody just says, "give me a short haircut". There are many types of short hairstyles, there are even different types of pixie cuts. You have to explain to the stylist what type of hairstyle you want. That's why there are different names for different short hairstyles.

And where did you get the idea that short hair on women is "more glamourized" than long hair on women. They show shampoo ads on T.V. of women tossing their long hair around ad nauseum! There is plenty of glamourization of long hair on women!

And there are different long hairstyles as well. If you knew anything about the hair industry you would know that. A long hair shag, layered long hair, a long hair spiral perm, straight one length long hair, etc.

If you don't like short hair on people that's your problem, but others like it.

I agree "Can'twaitforlonghair", Halle does look better with short hair. She has very refined features and is petite, and long hair is a little overwhelming on her.

I think miss Brenda is right, long hair does have it's own terminology. I'm no hair expert, but I have long hair and I've had tons of different styles. I've had layers at one point, long layers (which are different) at another, I've had my hair angled, I've had a blunt cut that was straight across, I've had bangs in the past: the blunt thick fringe ala Hilary Duff, and wispy bangs, and angled bangs, and long bangs that I've worn off to the side. Hair is so individual, even if it's long. As for the point in giving names to hairstyles or haircuts, think about this, if I wanted to wear my hair wavy would I tell the hair stylist to crinkle my hair but not too much and maybe make a squiggle in the air? I could, but that'd be a little strange. If I wanted to get a perm, I would say make my hair like a telephone cord or something along those lines. It's just easier to label things, even if they're not entirely the same. I mean a bob is a bob, even if it's different than someone elses bob. I don't think it's any different than labeling one type of architecture colonial and another modern. It's just a helpful little tool. And where is the problem with calling women's hairstyles different names than men's? I doubt many women bring in a magazine clipping of a man when they get their hair styled, and I'm sure men don't want to think they have the same hair as their girlfriend, so maybe labels give us the encouragement to not step back and say, hey, I have the same haircut as my brother (if your a girl) or my sister (if your a guy).
