Katie Shorter?

Yesterday and again today (Fri. 1-21), it looked to me as though Katie cut some of the length off, maybe 3-4" It's a longish bob, with bangs still swept to side but chopped at about nose length. Why, if she's trying to grow them out, did she get them cut? It's that awkward growing out look that most women try desperately to avoid.

Basic style is OK, though it's identical to that sported by 2/3 of the world's female on-air personalities. I personally think she should have stayed with the longer length. And, long or short, two words: Bangs. Please!

I saw her this morning and thought she had gone shorter too. (Today show was pre-empted on the west coast yesterday for inauguration coverage). I am pretty sure the picture is from before the cut.

Well, I find those bangs -- and the head-tilting -- quite sexy. Maybe she feels the same way?

Katie is one of several morning news Talking Heads that have new hairstyles or trims. We've already talked about Natalie Morales, who doesn't look any better now than she did the day of her haircut. Diane Sawyer looked beautiful with her hair looking longer and fuller a couple days ago, but today she looked like the same old Diane. And Robin Meade of CNN Headline News seems to favor a new style of late:

1. Julia Huddy of Fox News. She's custom made from head to toe. Great looks, hair and a dynamite personality (although you never know which way she's going to part her hair). Catch her Saturday and Sunday morning's Fox and Friends show. Well worth the effort.

5. Neida Sandoval, the news chick from Univision's morning show, "Despierta America." I can't understand a word she says, but she's nice looking and has attractive, shoulder-length hair. She just took the blonde streak out of her gorgeous dark Spanish hair.
Formerly members of the top five: Katie (the quicker her hair grows, the quicker she returns to the list), Carol Costello of CNN (her hair is a lot thinner than it used to be) and Lucy Noland, who used to work in Detroit and now is in New York. How is Lucy doing out there? We miss her.

I'm with Bob S.....why is everyone so up in arms with Katie Coric's hair? She is OK looking, but not all that glamourous in my opinion (note: I said MY opinion, which may vary from others).

I noticed that also. Was an improvement. Unfortunately, because she usually wears her bangs the other way and falling down - her head tilt was going the "old" way. Katie - don't tilt your head - it is very annoying!

I saw Katie's change today and (to my own surprise) thought it looked pretty good. To me it definitely is cuter than her standard flat straight look, and something about the part being on the other side, the style, the shorter length and the slight flip makes her look younger. It isn't the style I'd pick for her (bangs, Katie, bangs and layers!) but I still think it's a change for the better, and I'm glad she's experimenting.

I guess I like what I like and you like what you like. Maybe the new look has more style to it, but it's going to take some getting used to for me. If I had my way, Katie would look like this every day:

So, during an interview this morning on Today, Katie's hair in front fell a bit...revealing that she actually has bangs cut (i.e. short pieces near eyebrow length). So, this last trim or subsequent additional trim a couple of days after the last trim is why she's trying this new style. There must be some other layering added in addition to the bangs.

What I don't understand is why she isn't wearing the bangs AS bangs and is insisting on keeping the severe and awkward looking opposite side part and bad version of the flip at the bottom. It's like she forgot how to style it or there's a new stylist on the show that had no clue what it should look like or how to do it.

I'm at a loss. How do you get get virtually the same haircut you had a year ago and wore for several months, but seemingly forget how to style it? What's up with that?

P.S. Is it me or does it look a bit darker too? Katie had been getting really blonde there for a while.
