QuoteReplyTopic: WHAT PRODUCTS DO YOU SWEAR BY? Posted: February 18 2000 at 7:52pm
I have been researching best products to achieve results for African American or curly/dry hair textures. Specifically, I am looking for excellent products for the following:
detangling, smoothing, ending breakage, holding styles, relaxing, curling, moisturizing, ending frizz, volumizing, shampooing, conditioning etc etc etc. Please let me know which ones and why.
I swear by Pantene shampoo and Pantene conditioner because they leave my hair soft, shiny, and manageable. Next I swear by Aveda products. I put Elixer Daily Leave-on conditioner in hair after I towel dry. If I plan to blow-dry, I then use Aveda"s Pure -fume brilliant damage control which protects from the heat and helps hold the style. After my hair is blow-dried or air dries, I put on some Pure-fume Brilliant emolient which is a light, clean-smelling oil. None of these products leaves my hair looking or feeling all gunked-up.
I use Soft Sculpting Glaze by, Regis! Thats The best stuff to use! If you use ALOT then you get the hard scrunchy wet look but if you just use about a quarter size then you get a pretty soft light ringlet curl i love it i use all there products there sculpting spray...is awesome too! I hope this helped E-mail me with some of your stuff....LuvCherryCoke@aol.com
I would definetly recomend Biosilk, silk therapy. When you don't feel like doing much to your hair but you want it to feel silky just put some in your hair and it will be smooth all day.
Dawn,I've been buying hair products for my thick curly hair since the beginning of time. I've bought cheap, expensive pretty much everything. so depending on your budget it's worth a try to give these a whirl. For Detanging Paul Mitchelle the Detanger (Expensive). Or Johnson and Johnson baby detanger it's really good and cheap. For Smoothing Biosilk Deep Therapy is great , a little goes a long way. For a cheaper alternative Smooth and Shine smoothing serum. Breakage Joico KPac there is no cheap alternative for this. This stuff is that good. For Holding a good holding hair spray is the vital nutrients kind it's a good hold but still flexible. Alternative: the cheaper you buy in the drug store the more hard your hair will be. For example pantene will give a good hold but Rave or aqua net will leave your hair really hard. For realaxing i didn't know if you were talking about african american relaxers i'm not african american so those don't work on me at all. For curling kms curl up line is the best. for cheaper Aussie miracurls spray and Loreal has springing curls gel. For moisturizing kpac moisturizer. I don't think i've like a cheaper alternative for this either. For frizz put a good pomade one this is the best frizz stopper. Most people get scareda and think 3 flowers. But everybody is making one. Arctec material is a good expensive one. But Loreal has one in a blue package that is good but more oily. i don't use any volumizing products because my hair is crazy as it is. for shampoo and conditioner Tigi has both . It's called moisture maniac. I't's good. For cheaper Aussie Moist Shampoo and Conditioner are also very good. Dealing with my crazy hair is not easy but these products make a world of difference.
