HELP!

I recently got a spiral perm (an at home one) My mom rolled it for me and didn't roll it spiraled just regular. My hair is waist length and now just waves that are close together. No actual curls and definatly not spirals. I have to cut off at least 3 inches bc the ends had been color treated years ago when it was shorter. I want to reperm it but don't know what is the soonest I can do that without goind bald lol I have 3 young sons and cannot afford to pay at a salon esp. bc of the length. Any help would be GREAT!!
