Up to 15 million women and girls worldwide have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a complex hormonal disorder for which there is no cure. Not only does PCOS cause devastating short term effects such as infertility, obesity, acne, male patterned baldness and hirtuism, PCOS has a substantial negative impact on quality of life because of the disorder's multisystem conditions. Many women with PCOS are insulin-resistant, a condition that raises the level of insulin circulating in the body and is a precursor to type 2 diabetes. In fact, women with PCOS have seven times the risk of other women for developing adult-onset diabetes, which in turn greatly increases their chance of having cardiovascular disease, hypertension, stroke and kidney problems. In addition, because obesity and type 2 diabetes have now reached epidemic proportions in the United States, and cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in women, PCOS plays a key role in the foremost causes of death and disability in American women. For many this conference will be a first step to getting the resources and tools necessary to live healthier lives with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Therefore, this conference will incorporate information and lectures on medications, medical treatments, lifestyle changes, diet, exercise and mental health.

Due to many of the symptoms of PCOS, women are often left to feel less than feminine and we would like to offer products and programs to enhance positive self image. Approximately 80% of women and teens with PCOS face weight problems and obesity, not to mention acne, excess facial and body hair, dark skin patches to mention a few symptoms! The Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Association is a non-profit 501c3 organization asking for your help by donating or lending clothes, accessories, shoes, make-up, styling prodcuts and/or services for our 1st annual fashion show and 6th annual international conference. Your participation will help us reinforce beauty is diverse and women can feel confident and sexy at any size, whether you donate or lend clothing, services, model, offer technical skills or support our cause by attending this event.

This event will be attended by a minimum of 200 people and will be covered by various media outlets including Real Magazine! We hope you agree supporting this fashion show and are cause is vital to helping women and girls with this condition as well as bringing awareness regarding the syndrome to the public at large.

I thank you for your consideration and look forward to your responses.
