No it doesn't but I hear it helps. For the first couple of weeks it may be necessary.

Once you get them in good you can go without wearing it. I hardly ever wear mine anymore, and never to bed.

I think thats why most people's waves frow in the front form before the sides cuz if you don't were your du rag then ur messing ur sides up during your sleep so it's best to keep it on to protect ur wave pattern

when i used to sleep without a durag it didn't. but i prefer to protect the pattern. n if u wear it ur waves would be very tight in da mornin
