Does anyone else here do Pilates?

I started Pilates about a year ago and absolutely love it. I have definitely strengthened my core and back muscles, as well as leg and arm muscles.

I don't do it but have been considering doing it. I saw the infomercial with Daisy Fuentes and it sounded interesting. Which ones do you do? Did it help you lose weight or just tone up?

I don't do Pilates, but yoga...for relaxation and toning. I love breathing, I swear there were a few years there where I did'nt breath at all.

My daughter just started the pilates though she likes it so far.

I do yoga too, it's so relaxing. Pilates definitely helps in toning. I actually do Pilates at my gym, and it's the traditional version. I think other versions are out there, such as the one from Mari Windsor.

I have heard that pilates is relaxing and good for toning, but does it have any cardio/fat-burning capability? I have wondered about this. Also, does Yoga?

Thanks

Both yoga and Pilates are good for toning and strengthening, but not as good for cardio. I mean, some moves may be strenuous and might cause a bit of sweat, but it does not increase the heart rate as much compared to running and other aerobic exercise. However, building muscle is just as important, since it would help burn more calories during aerobic exercise.
