does it actually say on the box which the dye is mainly based on or do u have to ask around in the store? and does the same thing with the vol. of the container? does it say or do I have to ask?
On most boxed color it will say cool or ash, but both mean the same thing, the peroxide on most box color is 25 percent unless it's a color that lift many levels.
If you want that type of color that tells you, then go to Sally Beauty and get Clairol's Complements color, you mix it just like stylists do, so you can buy the peroxide you need to do the job and they have a demi permanent color that you can refresh the color when you need to that doesn't contain ammonia, so you only use the ammonia part on the new growth ( part that needs color) and refresh with a demi on the mid shaft & ends.
If you choose this type of product then make sure you also get a tint bottle, gloves, the peroxide & the color, enough for the length of your hair.

In the regular store brands it says "6%" on the developer bottles which means 20 volume peroxide. However, going to Sallies, you can choose between 3% (10 vol), 6% (20 vol), 9% (30 vol.), and 12% (40 vol). From reading ur other post, u should choose 30 vol.
Usually u can look at the box and it describes the specific shade like 7RO which basically means level 7-Red Orange. But you can also find this at sally's.
