Got my kit! What kind of hair??

Hi everyone!

I just got my Extendtube kit. I am in Canada and ordering it didn't cost as much as I thought with borders and the exchange. I tried to put one on just the side of my head last night and I found it quite easy,well that was only one! I will post again when I actually try the rest. I have never done this before. I don't know if you remember, but, I am the one who posted a picture of my fushion extensions (someone had done them for me)that had came off right from my scalp.I found out they were not put to close to my scalp and it never hurt me. I still don't know why, so I am a little scared to try this myself. Maybe my hair and scalp does't like them!? Anyway I have heard so much about types of hair. I looked on the beginnings post but couldn't seem to find out anything about types of hair. I do have some prebonded left from the package I had bought in Vancouver, B.C. but I don't know what it is. It says "Lord and Cliff's 100% Remi human hair. I found when I had them in (about 50) they did tangle starting around 3 weeks. I conditioned them alot and put on a shiny sheen product when they were dry but didn't really help.
I learned alot of this just through you people. I thankyou and appreciate all the help and time you put in to help!

I haven't heard the best things about the L&C method or their hair, but that said, I thought their hair was prebonded, not pretipped. For microrings, you'd need pretipped, so if the L&C hair is prebonded, you'd either need to retip the hair or melt the bonds down to "manipulate" them into a more "tipped" shape. Maybe I'm off here, though.

Anyway, about the hair, if you're shopping for synth, you're basically looking at a choice between two types of fiber: monofiber or thermofiber. There are some differences between the two, as well as many similarities (we're still trying to figure all the nuances out ourselves, I think).

For monofiber, I'd recommend PlastikHaar first and foremost. Failing that, there's Dome. And Trimco, but they only sell straight. Prostyles is only available to licensed stylist in the U.S.

For thermofiber, your best option is WaWa from Vixenwigs on eBay. The American Dream (AD) catalog is also intiguing, but we haven't had much luck getting good customer service or the full range of products we expected with them yet.

For human hair, I'd go with one of the following: Bohyme (available at ebonyline.com), Extensions Plus (available at extensions-plus.com), Glamourhair's Remi (available at glamourhair.com), or His and Her Cuticle Hair (available at hisandher.com). In my mind, these are the human-hair "big four"--the reputable brands that have consistently received the best reviews. What's best for you among those four really depends on the specific color, length, texture, and price you're looking for.

Of course, there are also sites that sell relatively unprocessed Indian hair, like Nature Girl, Indianhairs, and Bliss, but depending on your hair type and color, they may or may not make much sense for you.

Missmolly, with pre-bonded hair the tip is usually 'U' shaped or in the shape of a 'fingernail' and is sometimes referred to as 'nailhair'. Used with a fusion wand to bond to the natural hair. The pretipped hair that we use with microrings, extendtubes or shrinkies is rolled into a stick shape tip. It somewhat resembles a shoelace tip. Hope that helped!
