Hi, I'm new to the forums here and I have a problem who someone can hopefully help me...

Anyways,
Naturally I'm a very light blonde hair color. I've always had long-ish hair since i was little, and ive cut it really short but only afew times and it's always grown back nicely. But afew years back (I'm 16) when i was like 13 - i completely cut my hair really shoirt after having it long (past m y shoulders) I cut it short as in short rnough to have it spikey. Anyways ever since then untill August of 2004 I kept on cutting my hair like that with an electric razor. In august I started growing back my hair because I want it long again. Anyways as it has been growing (pretty fast actually) I noticed that its a much much darker blonde color it was before. It looks like a dirty blonde - maybe a tiny bit lighter than it. Anyways my hair has always been very very light blonde - Maybe it's because i always went to the beach and took in allot of sun but when i cut my hair i havent gone out int he sun much since then- very very little infact. I'm not sure if its that or not but my hair is much darker now and I want to get it back to it's original light blonde  without using any bleach or dye or anything un natural. I heard using lemona nd going to the sun works and i went last weekend for afew hours with lemon sprayed on my haiur and i did notice it got a bit lighter. Anyways my question is how would i go about getting it back to its original light blonde color again?

(Sorry for such a looong post)

Personally, I would just wait. Natural blonde hair looks darker when you have a short cut than it will when it gets longer, just because the longer its on your head the more slight sun bleaching you will get.  But the bleaching from the sun (which happens more noticeably to blondes) will always look faint and natural, whereas if you start lightening it with things (even nonchemical things) you will eventually get roots.  If you still want to do it, lemon juice is probably going to be less damaging for your hair than anything else around the house you might try.

Thanks allot for the info.
Yeah I was thinking of waiting it out and growing it and just keep going to the beach and soaking up sunw ithout putting anything on my hair since summer is coming. Another thing is I have always had darker roots for some reason, my roots are like a goldish dirty blonde - even when i had my hair really light blonde and I've never colored it.
So I think for a while ill keep going to the sun without lemon juice and see how it goes hopefully it lightens.
Thanks allot :D
(By the way how long would i have to sit int he sun? afew hours or so?)

You should be aware that as you grow older, hair gets darker. So it's not unlikely that between the ages of 13 and 16 your hair got permanently darker.

Ah so it does? I kinda thought so...
Still though can it still lighten to a light blonde color like before by going out int he sun? or is it a lost cause?
Thanks for the help!

Possibly, it does for some people. Try it and see. But don't use sun-in, it'll wreck your hair.

I think u kinda answered ur own question in the first post. It's most likely becuz u weren't in the sun as much, but also as it gets longer, the sun rays will do their thing of adding the original lightness to ur hair! And have u tried one of those cofitioner and shampoos that are supposed to "bring out" the blonde in nat. or color-treated blondes? Good luck!

I left this out, but for some reason since i started growing my hair out - I've noticed that in the front of my head the hair in the front is much lighter than the rest for some reason, I have no lcue why ... I'll try to take a few pics of the haircolor right now...
Thanks for the help everyone... (I don't wanna lose my blonde hair ! )

Some people just have natural highlights without sunning.

I have an old black and white picture of the year before  I cut it, This was alredy after a year of no more sun - and As you can see my roots are naturally darker for some reason ...

They say those shampoos bring out highlights, for blondes they often have marigold or chamomile or something in it.  I personally never noticed much difference when I was natural blonde and I used them, but that was 20 years ago so maybe the newer ones would do something.  You may just have to try them and see.
