QuoteReplyTopic: Curious Chinese Hair... Posted: May 19 2005 at 5:51pm
Hi All,
I am 100% Chinese and have thick coarse hair, however, it was never
poker straight, always very frizzy, big and slightly wavy! So I
decided to chemically straighten my hair and have done so 3 times
now.
However, the weirdest thing is happening to my hair, it is getting
really curly and its from the mid section down. People say it
looks like I've had my hair up in a ponytail coz where it starts going
curly from the mid section down is really even!
So now my question is, is this a reverse reaction to the chemical
straightening and should I stop straightening my hair? Coz right
now I'm using GHD's (Hot Irons I believe you guys call them) and it
does straighten my hair until I wash it out.
The thing is, if I don't straighten my hair, I have the biggest afro on the planet.... it's long, curly, big, and frizzy!!!!
Heat and chemical straightening can cause side effects. Namely, lots of frizz or otherwise deformed strands... you could call it frizz or damage, it doesnt matter.
Then again, it could be your natural texture coming through. How old are you?
As probably discussed in other threads, it depends on how much (a) money and (b) time are you willing to spend to make your hair straight. Or... you could grow some virgin hair, cut off the curlier/wavier parts, and cut down on the heat and chemicals. It's a really tough choice between those and I wish you luck.
