QuoteReplyTopic: My Plastikhaar is not going to work :O( Posted: May 26 2005 at 4:42pm
I bought the 50 mm Plastikhaar 1m weft in Cacao and I must say it is BEAUTIFUL!!! But, my hair has much more of a wave to it than this hair. What I noticed is that the hair curls more on the bottom and if I trim it to the length I want it will loose it's wave. I can see how this hair can drop it's wave faster since it looks like more of a loose bodywave to me. I will post pictures later to show how my hair looks next to the Plastikhaar.
Not all is lost though for me since the naturally stright Indian hair fits my hair curl pattern to a "T". Thanks again FinaFina for the great deal on the new hair
I must also say that if I put a whole head of Plastikhaar in it would be Ok, but just adding a weft on the bottom like I do will not work for me. On the other hand my friends daughter ordered one the the blonde shades in straight and it looks fantastic against her hair. She is doing a weft on the bottom of her hair but she is having the plastikhaar weft layered to match the layering of her hair. The straight plastikhaar against her straight hair looks incredible. I will post of picture of hers if she does not do so first (I gave her this boards website).
Anyone need Plastikhaar in Cocao? I also have the Dome Spray.

Kimbearly, before you completely throw in the towel, throw some velvet rollers on a section of that weft and see how that works. Roll from the weft toward the ends and put 2 or three rollers on the strand if you have to. Let the rollers get as hot as you can and then let them cool all the way to cold, then take them out. It may give you exactly the curl you want without the funky texture you get from 28mm. It's worth a try.
Edit: roll from weft to ends! It makes a much better wave - more a spirally body wave rather than the beauty pageant curled end effect

Awww, sorry it's not going to work out. I can totally see how your hair will not work with PH. You have a very unique texture and soft wave that is difficult to match. I always thought the Bliss clips you made looked completely natural. Hopefully the Fina Hair will be exactly what you're looking for.
(edit: just read the other's reply. It is true about the flocked rollers, though. They give hella curl.)
For loose 50mm-style curl, I like these: Revlon Radiance Lighted Instant Heat Hairsetter For tighter, more serious, vavavoom curls, I like these Clairol Kindness ones:

I *love* the Radiance Rollers! All the other ones give me way too tight
of a curl; the Radiance were the biggest I could find and the closest
to the 50mm, I think.
Extra clips are a good question. I actually have three sets of 5, for a
total of 15 rollers, and I have two different types of clips with
them--the red cylindrical ones and the white clippy ones, which are
even better (more secure) and look like they might actually be these
Conair ones (from Sally's): http://www.sallybeauty.com/shop/1660/345062
You can do a 'steam' perm on that hair and maybe than you can get a curl pattern more like your own.
Do you know what perm rod size most resembles your own curl pattern? You can wrap the hair, using end papers, and 'piggy backing' (using more than 1 rod per section- don't want to over load any single rod with too much hair) , and then either use a streamer, or submerge it in a pot of boiling water and then let it cool.
I am pretty much the same color as you are in the photo you have up. Is that the color of cacao because I didn't order that "DARN" so I may need to buy it off you for my PH install if you still deceide to part with it

what did you get marie? Someone in my house, noone will take the
blame, knocked my color ring loose and spilled it everywhere yesterday
so mines all reorganised now. I had a hard time deciding to put
cacao in the 'dark red brown' category or the 'brown' category.
I bought mahaghoni, and kokos that you recomended and I bought mocca that I saw a photo of an install . Theese three with blending I think will make a great combo but maybe some cacao will put it over the topI really can't wait for my hair to arive and I can finaly see what I have. Besides it has been close to if not over three months and shrinks have blow out's too at this point

I agree with metalgirl, and want very much to hear detailed blow by blows of someone who's done the steam perm with plastikhaar (lived with it through a wash or two). But I've really been struggling to move people away from stick straight hair. I have nothing against straight..... I'm just more interested in wavy or curled these days.
Hi Kim, So have you decided to keep or part with it? The colors I bought are to dark So I either get something lighter or darken mine. Let me know. Thanks
I really don't know what I am going to do with this stuff <sigh>. I really like (no love) the hair but #1 - it is darker than mine so I would have to dye my hair to match it #2 - Do I want to mess with steam rollers all of the time?
Like Amm said, "I can totally see how your hair will not work with PH. You have a very unique texture and soft wave that is difficult to match.". Amm is so right. My hair has a mind of it's own and some days it is pretty curly and others it has just a wave on the bottom. The strange thing is the Indian hair follows my hair pattern. When it's really humid my hair and the Indian hair gets curlier. When it's dry out my hair and the Indian hair change to just a wave. It is really nice how they just work together and I do not have to even think about it. So I guess I just answered the question - Looks like my Plastikhaar needs a new home. I also have dome spray that I think Sherrie wanted and a color ring.
I am so glad that I bought that hair from FinaFina because something told me inside that the Plastikhaar might not work for me. Sorry Sara from Plastikhaar - I tried. The hair is beautiful and I just love the color and the feel.

Ahh...but you know what, Kimbearly...it's all about finding what works for you. If PH doesn't work and Indian does - at least now you KNOW that! It takes all the guesswork out of it, and that's saying alot.
