Hi All..
I have a hair mess on my hands.. Here goes.. I have this new client who went to another stylist and was unhappy with her hair coloring results.. She asked to tone down her hair and get highlights. She got black hair.. UGH.. So now she wants Kirstie Alleys hair color..... yup.. So I first tried just giving her an uncolor highlight... Well that was barely noticable... So I went more drastic this time.. I had her come in and I uncolored the crown.. After oh 5 hours of uncolor I thankfully got out the black.. UGH... Now it is brassy and yellow.. Thankfully her hair has held up very well.. Not mushy damage at all.. It is very think hair to begin with, a little on the dry side now, but not as bad as it really could/should be.. So now we are on to phase 2.. I am going to go in and refoil the hair so it blends with the bottom black a little better.. I don't want to throw any black up top, but I was thinking a level 5 with a red adder for the lowlights and a lvl 8 or 9 seither nutral or a slight bit of ash.. I am not loving this correction.. So I am second guessing myself .. This is so frustrating.. Makes me want to have a wiaver signed as soon as anyone gets black haircolor.. Why do people want the impossible.. Hence the misspelled name.. lol.. Any input would be greatly appreciated.. Thank You..

LOL, on the misspelled name. Did you explain the long, damaging and difficult process you would have to do on her black hair to remove it? If so, she's at your mercy, and she will expect that her hair will be more damaged through this process. Have her buy some serious double strength conditioners!
BTW, what was her natural haircolor?
**Hair type: 2a, which is wavy and fine.
**Color: Naturally dark brown, currently dyed reddish brown.
**Length: below shoulder length

Yes I explained everything I would have to do.. And she is not mad at me, she's mad at the black hair she had.. LOL.. I have no clue her natural color. To me it looks pretty dark natural, a level 3 no.. But maybe a 5.. I know the other hairdresser did a level 3 on her.. She says her hair is a light auburn.. I'm not seeing that at all.. Oh well.. Yes I just saw that Matrix has a new deep conditioner out. I may grab that for her after the final process.. I am thinking a heavy foil with a level 8 to tone down the brassiness, and a color between of a warm 6 and 10 vol.. I just want to get that color in there so it doesn't pour out.. Or do you think a demi might be better??? We use mostly Matrix colors, but also have Italy.. So for a demi we have color synch.. Any thoughts?? Like I said the bottom half is still black.. I want to lighten that little by little as time goes on.. I just couldn't do it all.. She has a ton of hair, and is a friend. So I'm doing this reduced.. Thanx again..

I wish I could help you on the dying part of your problem, but it sounds like you really know what you're doing! I'm a DIY'er, and not a professional when it comes to color. I just know what works on my hair.
Her hair is going to be very porous after all the developer and coloring. So, I'm thinking TIME may be your only friend when getting the color to stay in her hair.

Oh no no no! I'm so worried when I hear about black hair being put thru so much pain! Try those hair products for damaged hair from Motions -- they great!
