I have a wide-toothed wooden comb. I think that they're made for people with wavy hair, more so that fine or coarse. I say that because although it certainly doesn't pull my hair out as much as a plastic comb, it doesn't detangle very well at all and I end up with bad snarls if I don't go back and pick my hair apart bit by bit.

i dont have a wooden comb but i have a horn comb and a bone comb. I love my horn comb but i went cheap and bought the small size. I plan on buying the bigger size. My bone comb is for detangling in the shower...I didnt get a wooden comb cos im not sure if i can use it on wet hair and i rarely comb my hair while its dry
