Do you use shaving cream, or a razor with a moisturizing strip?  I don't know for sure if that would help, I don't usually get bumps - I use both though, so maybe it would.

there is a product on the market called Skin Tend...it's sold at a lot of day spas and also on the internet..the stuff is fantastic..i'm a female and when i hit menopause, i began having coarse facial hair..what made it even worse, they were mostly ingrown..

after i would pick them, then came the scarring left behind from trying to uncurl them..then i began having ingrowns shaving under the armpits.

i used this stuff, "on a  lark", and man, i keep it around all of the time..the best way to use it is dilute it with water..it's pretty caustic by itself, thus your money goes a long way..it's salicylic acid base, and great for acne..and it makes the hair grow "out" instead of under or curled..

do a google search or any web search for "skin tend"..and go from there..the stuff really works, and on their website they show you how a hair is "ingrown" from shaving, etc.  it's very educational..plus, the skin tend exfoliated a lot of old scar tissue from the old ingrowns..the scarring is not completely gone away, but there is a major difference. good luck
