    Posted: August 31 2005 at 2:04pm
I just recently made the leap to blonde-dom from my previous
medium brown. I've been coloring for years and have not had
any issues with covering the gray when using browns. Since
I've had my hair bleached, it obviously has stripped the color
and has uncovered the gray (mainly temples & sideburns). I
went to my local beauty supply and got one bottle of Loreal
Feria 10.01 Superlight Soft Ash Blonde (Level 10 base soft
blue) and one bottle of Loreal Feria Multi-Tone Color
Developer Plus. I mixed equal parts of each and left on my gray
areas for about 35 minutes. It made absolutely no dent in the
gray. I'd appreciate any suggestions for covering the gray.
Thanks!!

OK with many color lines such as Goldwell which is what I use in the salon Lvl 10 will NOT cover grey hair. Most permanent haircolors provide grey coverage but I know Lvl 10 blonde will not cover grey.

If you are using professional products try using a lvl 9 blonde color with 30 Developer to give you a little lighter color than the typical 20 developer that is used with most colors or the swatches of hair that display that particular color. It will lift that color just that much closer to a Lvl 10 but provide you with the grey coverage that you are looking for.

when covering grey you always need to add a neutral shade the same level as your colored shade.  FOr example if you are using what I use in my salon and I am coloring a person a level 7 with gold tones, which is 7.3 I would mix 1/2 7.3 and 1/2 straight 7 to equal amounts of 20 vol developer. Apply only to the grey area....You can use the target shade (7.3) with equal amounts of developer on the rest of the head.
