Hey everyone-
I'm having sort of a hair emergency this week. On Tuesday night I deep-conditioned my hair with a mixture of hair mayonnaise and one egg... I do this every month. I left the "conditioner" on for about an hour, then rinsed it out and let my hair dry a tiny bit before putting it in a bubba tail and going to bed. Everything seemed fine until I woke up on Wednesday and tried to brush my hair out. It felt extremely dry, frizzy and tangled, and throughout the course of the day I noticed tons of split ends, breakage, and wiry "stressed" hairs that were definitely not there the day before. So, obviously, my question is this:
HOW DID ALL THIS DAMAGE OCCUR OVERNIGHT?
The only thing I could think of is maybe I didn't rinse my conditioning mix out thoroughly and it caused my hair to get gunky? But even if that was the case, why would a deep conditioner damage my hair so much? Last night I did an emergency ACV rinse to help get any egg/mayonnaise gunk out of my hair, and that seemed to help a little. However, no amount of conditioner seems to be helping with the dryness, and frizz is hardly ever an issue for me so I don't know how to deal with that. So my second question is...
...any suggestions on what to do for my hair from this point?
I don't understand how all of this damage could've occured. I'm obviously going to do some extensive search & destroy with my scissors this weekend for the splits and stressed hairs, but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm sort of freaking out about my hair's condition at the moment.
Thanks in advance, Katja

Clarify. Whenever I overcondition my hair (rarely, anymore), it
gets crunchy and wiry. Use a clarifying shampoo, light
conditioner, and diluted-vinegar rinse.
I second Dave's suggestion. I used to get weird results from mixing protein conditioner and jojoba oil. Sometimes people can get a "protein overload" from eggs and other similar treatments.
Eggs are high in protein and too much protein can cause severe breakage. ApHOGEE treatment does the same thing. It's a really good protein conditioner but you have to moisterize really well to prevent breakage. Also you can't do protein treatment too often b/c they do more damage than harm in this case. Protein treatment are good to do every 4-6 weeks. http://www.aphogee.com
