Hi,
I'm new- have a 16 yo niece that is losing hair due to a traumtic health
issue and am searching for a reputable, experienced hair extension
professional in the Raleigh/Durham area.
She plays tennis and generally has a carefree youth. So I'l also
requesting help in finding method to suit her lifestyle.
So sorry to hear about your niece's hair loss problems. When I was a teen my parents got a divorce, and from the stress, my hair started falling out by the handfuls, so I can relate to the horror she must be feeling.
If she is currently experiencing hair loss, than probably extensions would not be an option, because you don't want to put any added stress/tension on that hair. There are hairpieces that would probably be a better choice for her right now. A hair integration is a hair piece that has a wig base, but has netting / holes for the client to pull their hair through and integrate with the hair on the piece. That may be a good option for her.
I would look up in your phone book for a hair replacement specialist, not necessarily a hair extensionist. I am afraid that if you go into a salon seeking extensions, that they will just try to sell you on whatever method they do, and it may not necessarily be good for your niece's hair loss problem. A hair replacement specialist is the person you want to see for hair loss issues.
Smart extensionists, (like me and Charlene!) are trained to do both extensions and hair replacement, so we can solve any hair issue that is presented to us.
