I started over 2 years ago wearing 3/4 cap falls b/c I couldn't decide on the ext.
Then I wore braid-n-sew wefted human and/or synth hair for 2 years and found that to be pretty affordable w/ some research for the right person. I actually itemized on paper the cost on my monthly haircuts and everyother month full foils over a year w/ out hair ext. Then I itemized my hair extension costs and less frequent hair colors (I went darker to cut costs) and over one year, broken down into monthly payments, it wasn't as bad as it seemed to me. Not as much more $ as i seemed.
I am now a newly formed heat seal addict and those will cost me more but when broken down into a yearly cost, it is only $800 more per year for me (compared to no ext at all). Yes, $800 a year is a lot but I can deal w/ that and it seems less overwhelming than focusing on the sudden cost for install. Does that make sense? I tuck away $100 a month buried in my underwear drawer for my hair addiction. Sometimes when I get the urge to spend $ on a new top or dinner out or whatever, I take the $ and put it in my hair fund instead.
As for upkeep, it is that but my own hair is so wimpy that it is, in itself, high maintanance to keep fluffed and in some sort of style. Ok, this is cheesey, but I swear, wearing hair ext has improved my quality of life and is well worth the upkeep b/c, for me, it is such a huge visual improvement. So if one has good hair to start, it may not be as worth it.

Not cheesy at all...our hair plays a major importance in our lives and how we feel about ourselves. If beautiful hair gives you that boost of self confidence and makes you feel good about the way you look,,,then its worth every cent spent!

well, in all honesty it IS expensive and takes a lot of upkeep. However you can greatly reduce costs by shopping around, and the upkeep involved is usually nothing more then simple changes in your routine, and better overall hair care.
Think of fake nails. Yes, as opposed to "natural" nails they are more expensive and take more upkeep, but if you take good care of them, they can look very very lovely.

I've had fake nail and am getting them again. My own just can't get
long and it's one way to stop me from destroying my nailbands(right
word)?
But this is about hair, I may or may not get it. I am going to enter a
competition where one can win a hair extension if I can come up with a
good reason why they should give it to me. Hmm, any ideas?
I can safely say I will never be without hair extensions. My hair is so drab and boring, yes when I take them out, at first its wonderful to really wash your scalp but as soon as I dry my hair, I think oh my god, I hate my hair. I love hair extensions, you can be so creative without ruining your own hair with colours x
That's exactly how I see it, like pringles once you pop you can't stop LOL. Your hair has been posted to you 1st class recorded today by the way chick xx
