QuoteReplyTopic: Shedding short hairs, also. Posted: October 03 2005 at 2:41pm
When I shower, and I run my hands over my head, I see short hairs stuck to my hand--hairs which are not as long as the rest of my hair. Is it normal to shed hairs which aren't as long as those which have shed to to the obvious conclusion of their life span??
I lose some shorter hairs also and it worries me. I am a 35 yr old female and I just had my blood drawn to test for low iron and a cbc today and need to wait for the results on those. I have already had my thyroid tested and that is fine. I run my hands through my hair which was mid back length and is now almost up to my shoulders because I had it cut last week and I get 2+ hairs out each time without tugging at all. I am really stressing over this which is not good but I am beginning to think I will either be bald or I have something majorly wrong with me.
One dermatologist looked at my hair last month and told me my follicles looked good so that leads me to think I have some bad disease causing me to lose hair.
My hair just seems to constantly shed . When I scratch my head and run my fingers through gently I get a strand or two that come out from where I scratched so it is coming out very easily.
I am taking hair vitamins and b-complex for 2 weeks now with no positive results yet.
I'd like to know this too.. but when I was much younger and shaved my head I remember loosing a lot of small tiny hairs when I passed my hands in top of my head vigourously and it wasn't because I got my head shaven, this tiny hairs would fall in the coming weeks after the haircut just like normal hair.
lllohmy don't stress over that, it's normal to loose between 25 and 120 hair strands per day in a head full of hair so unless your experiencing less hair density I think you shouldn't worry about it that much.
