Hi! I was just going to try doing the microlink system myself. My hair
should be coming soon, and I was just wondering if anyone had any tips
or suggestions or anything for me.
Also, I believe I got about 100 "strands". I was wondering if it will be
enough for me (I was thinking about waiting to see how the hair is before
ordering more) but I am scared it wont be enough and look weird. How
long should this take me to do?
100 strands may not be enough, if they are big though maybe you can split them to make more. When I do strand by strand on myself I generally use at least 150, but not usually more than 200, it varies person to person.
When I did microlinks it took me maybe 3 or 4 hours to do myself but they didnt stay in for me at all, they all slipped right out the next day, I think I have very slippery hair though, I know it works well for a lot of people... even shrinkies tend to slide on me. I was disappointed as they are so easy to do.
So I guess my tip would be to try a small patch first and see how well they stay in for you before you spend the time doing your whole head in case they slip! I know I wish I'd done it that way, now for any new method I always do a test run on a small patch before I do my whole head :)

Ok, well, I bought another 200. I just realized they were 12" though, while
the others were 26" (that I planned on chopping shorter) so now I am with
another slight problem with the lengths, but I am sure I can blend it some
with a good cut and hopefully it will make my hair fuller.
That sounds good, I will try a few and see what happens. Definately a
good idea. My hair isn't exactly silk, so I don't think they will slide out
easily!
Wow though, 3 or 4 hours, this is going to be a killer!!!
