Thank you so much for your reply, it's really helping me out.  Basically anything I put in my hair (ash, neutral, beige etc.) ends up reddish.  I live in Brazil and unfortunately they don't have Miss Clairol, they do have this brand called Alfa Parf, which is Italian and one of the best brands, it's also very low in ammonia.  I'm going to look for something similar to what you suggested.  The Alfa Parf brand looks very similar to Miss Clairol so hopefully I'll get some good results this time.  Wish me luck...I'll keep you guys posted. ^^

Not sure what happens to funnygirl, but I get a nice auburn red from neutral.  Guess I have a lot of warmth.

i agree, just stick to ash shades if you want no red in your brown. but then what about neutral brown? does it produce a red shade to your hair?

You may also consider trying Robert Craig Colors, since they are very gentle and don't lift.  Look at the Ash Brown.

If you don't want any reddish color stay away from L'Oreal.  Especially the beige, which I think has a bite of a red to it.  Stick with a HARD ASH and an ASH INTENSIFIER.  Try a Clairol Brown instead.  Just an idea. 

Miss Clairol's Coffee Brown might look nice.  It's a green base and green helps to cancel out warmth (red). Maybe mix in a little of the violet base to help drab the color a bit, try nightfall brown.

I've been trying to get a nice brown color on my hair for the longest time now.  Of course at first people might think coloring your hair brown shouldn't be a problem, well I beg to differ.  My natural hair color is a number 4 (natural brown) and regardless of any hair color I use it always turns out a reddish color, something I don't want.  Of course every hair has a bit or red in it, but I am trying to get the least possible red I can.  I am looking to get something like Rachel Weisz's current hair color, which is a nice brown with not a lot of red in it.  So far, the color that I've tried that gives me less red is a mixture of Majirel's 5.31 (light beige brown) with Alfaparf's 410 (an ash intensifier).  My hair is currently color free (except for the few streaks I've tested on).  Below is a picture of her with the hair color I want, there're also a lot of pictures of her on wireimage.com.  I'd appreciate any help I can get.  (picture taken from:  http://www.rachel-weisz.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=l astup&cat=0&pos=0)  Thanks much. ^^

P.S.  I'm also looking into doing the Thermal Reconditioning thing and I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of a line from Schwarzkopf called Strait Therapy, it's supposed to be good but I'd like to hear from people who've had experience with it.  Again, thanks. ^^
