QuoteReplyTopic: How long can you wear LG wefts? Posted: November 06 2005 at 12:43pm
I've never actually installed wefts with Liquid Gold and I'd like to know anyones experiences with this method. I read that Sherrie has had some in for 9 weeks now. I had no idea they lasted that long when glued in I was under the impression that glued in wefts were very temporary and only lasted a week or two.
If you've used LG to glue in wefts, what's the longest you've gotten them to last? Did you glue them right to the scalp or did you do the sandwich method? It seems like the sandwich method would allow for better wear as your natural hair continues to grow. Have you had to touch them up during your wear? How is washing your hair with them in?
Kristen, I normally get around 7 weeks out of mine. Everyone that Ive used LG on has lasted at least 5 weeks. My current install is now 9 weeks...but they really should have been re-done 2 weeks ago...Ive really been pushing it as long as I can, for lack of time to do a new install. I did take my bottom row out yesterday...the bond was absolutely shot!
Ive been doing the sandwich method with LG for a long time. I know alot of people dont seem to get as long out of them as I do...Im not sure why either and I know its not just 'my hair' because Ive used the method on several other ladies with the same amount of wear time. Some really need redone at 4 weeks and I had one that went 12 weeks one time ( but really shouldnt have). I usually never have to touch anything up in between installs, and the bonds usually (except the bottom row or two)stay secure. I wash nearly everyday...and really I dont think anyone could be any harder on their hair than I am.
Im posting a few pictures. The hair is still looking great, the bonds are still secure.(minus the bottom row)..but you can see how much growth there is and my dark roots (YIKES)
Looks great Sherri, thank you so much for the pictures! It really looks like you've got the method down perfect. One more question for you, did you do wefts that went all the way around your head or smaller strips? I'm really going to have to try some of this.... all I need now is a guinea pig. I'd try it on myself but I just finished my new install a few nights ago. I'll post the pictures tonight
I do 5 or 6 rows. 3 or 4 from the ears down and 2 long above the ears that go from front hairline all the way around. Then I do a shorter row at the top on the sides...thats the row that you can see that I have lifted up in the photos. This particular install I doubled the wefts on the rows from the ears down, and shrinkied lowlights to the wefts before install. (I just lost my first pretip the other day!)
I know those photos look bad...but thats 9 weeks of wear and they really need redone but Ive just seriously lacked the time...gotta get er done soon! No later than this weekend for sure!
Kristin I have install photos if you need to see any, let me know...actually I think in the sandwich tutorial I added a couple of pictures awhile back.
I think your photos look awesome for 9 weeks of wear! You don't have any matteing or tangling, they really look great. I'll see if I can look up your past post with the tutorial
Heey^^ Sherrie you mother of all LG and stuff:P;) hehe but i have a question for you,... On Drlocks site it says the following ....Do you have any experiance or ideas about it? btw...you hair looks amazing!:D
Directions for hair Bond Fusion with Liquid Gold: Clean the hair using Liquid Gold Clensing Shampoo. Use a hair separator disc (sold separately) and section off a small section of the clients natural hair. Twist the hair once or twice, slide it through slit in the separator disk to the hole in the center of the disk. Place the disk as close to the scalp as possible. Apply Liquid Gold to the base of the hair close to the roots. Take the commercial hair to be fused, clip it blunt at the top. Flair the hair like a paint brush, apply Liquid Gold to the commercial hair. Allow to dry for about 3-5 minutes (or until no longer wet to the touch). Place the commercial hair on natural hair and with your thumb and forefinger, roll the added hair into place. Using a heat clamp, fuse bond lightly for about three (3) seconds. Round the bond with your fingertips. You are going to be repeating this with many sections, so we highly recommend that you prepare 20 to 30 sections of commercial hair with the Liquid Gold at one time

moffpoff...sorry I missed your question. From my experience...and Ive tried alot with the LG....to bond invidual extensions with LG doesnt work very well. The individual bond gets pretty yucky looking and doesnt hold for very long. A week or two tops...
