so my wife just does the wash and condition and blowdry with whatever's on
hand. her hair ends up dry and frizzy. i have no idea how to suggest or hint
that she take better care of her hair, or do more with it than just put it in a
ponytail. she does care about her appearance i think she just has no clue.

ladies, what would you recommend?

Let her know when she does it right by complimenting her and she'll be more inclined to do it that way more often. If she never does it right I'll stop speaking now.

Tell her one of your friends wives (that she doesn't like) said it looks dry and frizzy. That'll motivate her in a hurry! lol

If she just uses whatever's on hand, buy good shampoos and conditioners for her.  Don't even say anything to her about it, just buy the nice stuff and leave it in there.  She'll use what's at hand, thus improving your hair, and you avoid the confrontation of bringing it up ^_^ .  Easy!

Oh, and if you don't care for her ponytails, be sure to notice when she does her hair the way you do like.  If you compliment her and give her extra attention when she wears a certain style, she's likely to notice and wear it the way you like more often.  Positive reinforcement is always better than criticism.

Maybe give her a gift to a salon.  And when you go into the make an app't talk to the hairdresser and tell her you concern.  She can suggest the right products and give your wife some tips on making her hair sleek and gorgeous!  Good Luck

thanks for all the suggestions!!

alas she doesn't seem to hate any of my friends' wives. :) to those who
suggested i compliment her when she does it right, she also only has one
way of doing it, that's part of the frustration. i'd like her to mix it up a
bit. then i could say "wow" when she does something beautiful.

i don't mind the ponytail, but that's all i ever see. and with frizzy hair it's
not as nice as it could be even. how could i suggest variety?

getting nice shampoos and the salon idea are interesting. but how would
i find good shampoos or a good salon?

Ask people here for products. Ask around in your town the people you know (the ladies of course) what salons are good places to get haircuts.

In my opinion you should just be honest with your wife and tell her that she should take better care of her hair. You arent trying to hurt her feelings you are just trying to help. maybe you should go with her to the salon and pick out a nice hair style with her.
