My natural hair color is medium brown I think it is ashy.  I want a predominately medium brown base color with some subtle highlights and lowlights for dimension.  I am at such a loss seems most of the actresses with brown hair have a medium golden brown base with dark blonde highlights.

I do not want my hair color to wash me out.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Boring Brown Hair

If you're looking for something OTC, try one of the Clairol Natural Insticts, Level 2 colors (lasts approx. 28 washes). http://clairol.com/brand/naturalinstincts/palette.jsp

Contact Clairol and ask them which one of the browns has a gold or red base (vs blue or green) to counteract your ash.

'Subtle' highlights or lowlights are very difficult to accomplish, even for professionals. Try looking at what I recommended above just to kick it up a notch first.

Either or all that are a good representative of your hair color.
