So I just put in one strip of weft with the pro tac tape that I got yesterday as a test and I found it unexpectedly difficult to work with!

First I found that after I pulled off the blue side and went to stick it to my head it stuck so hard to my fingers that pulling my fingers away after pressing it to my head kept pulling it off my hair. I can't figure how I can take all the blue backing off and press it hard enough to stick to my hair without it getting a firm hold on my fingers. I tried doing it with half the blue tape left on so I could press against it properly, but it made it too stiff and it wouldn't form to my head...

Second, now that I have it in, I'm finding that there is still enough glue exposed that my other hair is catching on it. What I mean is, I stuck it to my hair, and then pulled enough hair over to cover the glue on top, but because the tape is quite wide, even though the weft part is properly covered, there are still bits of tape exposed further down which are sticking to stray hairs and pulling. Does that make sense?

I found too that when I stuck it on, I could pull it right off again without any trouble at all, just like as if I'd stuck packing tape to my hair. Does the glue take a while to settle in and adhere properly?

I've got a weft in and I've pressed against it really hard so we'll see if it holds up, I feel as though I could still pull it out with a good yank though. Maybe a blast with a hairdryer might help or something.

Any tips sticky tape users?

What I did, was to pull off all the blue, then you can see the white strips are like in two sections.  I folded the white strips over the weft and then pulled one white strip off and then pressed the sticky side onto the hair and then pulled off the other white strip then pulled down enough hair from above to totally cover the exposed strip xx

Eek.  Maybe if you cut the strips in half there would be less stickyness exposed becuase it would only cover the actual weft part?

The way I do it, I lay the weft down on the bottom strip, pull the backing off the upper, fold the strip over and sandwich both adhesive strips on top and below the weft. When I install, I peel the hair off the strip, only hold the ends with a thumb and forefinger on the very outer edges, keep the weft taut and even and then press only the edges down first. Only when I start layering the hair over the top of the adhesive do I push down. The bottom photo shows there should be no tape exposed at all to catch any other hair. I can tap my fingers on that area and there's no tacky feel at all.

Hmm, I am going to persevere. I don't know why my hair isn't covering the tape properly. I have pretty fine hair, but not abnormally so...

I am sure it's just a case of practice. I think I will try what you're talking about Amanda with keeping part of the tape on and see if I get on any better with it.

Emily, it's funny I just dreamed about cutting the tape thinner last night. I feel like a nerd when I dream about hair! haha. I am going to try that as well.

Amm, that's basically the method I used, except for trying to press it down with tape still exposed. I am not quite dextrous enough with this stuff yet I guess...

Will keep you all posted!

Today I had my first install with Bonding tapes and Amm`s wonderful indian hair... I found it very comfortable to install but I had to work careful. I needed only five strips for my install, but the difference between my natural lenght and the wefts is few.My natural lenghts is about 15 inches and Amm`s wefts is about 22, and I had to cut a bit. (Sorry, my hubbie had to cut because I was really unsecure of cutting my hair ....if that makes a sense)  I feel very comfortable with the tapes "light as a feather..."Amm wrote,  that`s it...No more pricking at the scalp from the ends of the wefts where the hair is foldet over...I like the feeling. By the way I agree with Amanda, first pulling the blue of...

Well, I just washed my hair and the strip came right out. no resistance at all. I know that happened to someone else, and they said the same thing that I find, and that is that no glue method works well for them. I can only get two weeks out of LG wefts even when they are sandwiched. I guess some of us are just not suited to glue methods.

But I'm willing to chalk this one up to poor installation, so I'm going to give it another shot! I'm not ready to give up yet!

Yeah, don`t give up!! I think it is worth another try. If it works for you, it is very comfortable and quick. But - I didn`t wash them yet with the tapes in. I am planing a test for tomorrow how the tapes are holding up while sweating by doing sports and sitting in a sauna...If the tapes survive that heat torture, it will be in future my method.

Before installing I usually wash my hair with a deep cleansing shampoo to get rid of rests of silicone that might make the hair slippery. And I am not using any kind of conditioner before install.

Ok, I installed another test strip at the back to see how this one holds up. I washed my hair immediately beforehand very thoroughly with clarifying shampoo, not a few hours before as I did the other time. I do have really oily hair so I hope this helps. I did it the other way around with the blue and white sides as well so that the white side was what I peeled off to attach it to my head and I found that *much* easier to work with. Anyway, even now it feels a lot more secure than the last one I put in, so I will keep you all posted.

I really hope it works out because it's soooo comfortable!

Well, I just washed my hair and the tape is still in and still feels really secure! I'm very excited :)

I did use the LG bond sealer over the tape this time, wether or not it made a difference, or if it was the washing immediately before, or a combination of the two I don't know, but it's holding strong!

Amanda:

If I want to use Lush hair for the pro-tac strips, what would you recommend?  I saw your mini hi-lite kit and could order that I guess unless you have other thoughts.  Thanks, Char

Oh man that IS good news! I have a bunch of those strips and I keep looking at them wondering if I'll ever get the b***s to use them.

So it's holding tight, huh? Awesome. And amm's pix are awesome as well.

Keep us posted.

I just did a full install with the pro flex strips from Amm's site and they feel great so far...my sister is BEGGING me to order her some.  I had help putting them in, but it went a lot smoother than even the microlinks!  And they do feel like I'm wearing NOTHING at all.  I did a through wash of my hair prior and no conditioner, so I'm crossing my fingers they will hold up during washing.  Any tips on after you wash?  Dry them right away?  What temp on the blow dryer?

This is my first time with wefts and I have pretty thick hair...I ended up having to go out and get another weft b/c a 4 oz. one wasn't enough for my entire head...does that sound normal?  Thanks!

I haven't use these strips to apply wefts, but I have used them to apply hairpieces (that is their intended use).

I would say get them dry soon after washing, and when you first apply them, it takes 24 hours for the adhesive to cure, so don't wash your hair within the first 24 hours.

I just did a take down of mine (after almost 7 weeks in and ZERO damage!!!) and put some more back in - about 8 oz of butt length hair using about 8 strips. Yow! This has quickly become one of my top faves of any installation method. Someone once said it kind of feels like wearing a blanket attached to your head and they're right. That's the only thing I wish I could change about this. No high ponytails either which is a bummer. I'll wait at least 3 days or more before I do my first wash and then maybe twice a week after that.

Hey guys, are you sewing the wefts together to make them double thickness before you apply them?
