Should I get highlights? (Pics)

Hey everyone, nice to meet you guys! I have a question about whether or not I should try highlights in my hair and along with a certain style since I'm not quite sure how it would look with my face structure and those kinds of things. My hair currently I'm pretty much growing out to get the style I want. My hair looks like this right now:


I just have it up in that picture and I usually have it up in same way similar to that lately, but I recently found a picture of a guy's hair I really like which looks like this:


I like his highlights too, but obviously I'm not as tan as he is, but I'm going tanning so I think that might help some becuase I have a really fair complexion as you can see right now because its winter and all. Do you guys think I'd look fine with my hair like he has it? Or does it just not match with my face shape/structure? I had it once down like he did last year, it wasn't as long its probably as long as I have it right now and I did it like that for the semi and it actually looked pretty good, I got a lot of compliment on it, but it isn't quite like his is either. I really want it personally, but I'm kind of skeptical since mostly its my skin tone I'm worried about, and maybe a little bit of face shape. Lol sorry this is so long, I apologize thanks in advance for the hair help though! =]

Truthfully, I'm sure that the highlights would be great, but I agree  with hellfrozeover about not needing to go tanning. Not only will your skin pay for it later on, but who wants to look like they been on a carrot-only diet???  It's just not that attractive of a look at all.....

i think you should grow your hair out and then use like a non permintae higlighting kit that washes out after a coupe washes to see if you really do want the highlights,definately do not go tanning.
