How do I fix orange roots?

I colored my friend's hair using a level 6 copper based color and her regrowth turned orange. How did this happen and what is the best way to correct it? I want to neutralize the orange using an level 6 ash blond but can I put in a dash of red to give her back her desired dark red blond color?

What exactly did you do?  Just a root touch up? 

Blue neutralizes orange, but you need to make sure it's the same level in order to "cover" up the color.  You can add a dash of red but I'd strand test first to see what will happen.

exactly.. check the color wheel and do it from there. trial and error, youll get it right.
