I know you guys have seen this question million times. I'm just frustrated. I've seen ammonia's pics and wonder if MP flash lightning would work? Is it possible to do this myself at home? I have heavily highlighted hair: light brown (on lower half of my hair) to some light blonde in there. Overall my hair is a medium blonde (level 8). I'd like to go at least level 9.5 since I'm so naturally dark. My roots are showing already and I'm not fully satisfied with hairdresser because he always add in few highlights, not all over coloring. I could ask for more highlights but then my hair won't be in one color. To see the color I want see below. I know I'd have to do bottom color first to lift the color to match the top of my hair which is lighter.
Its complicated when you have highlights, roots and a base color that
are all different. I'd tell the hairdresser you want platinum and
you want it all over color. Its his job to give you what you ask
for, not give you what he wants.

In theory going platinum is relatively easy, you bleach hair then tone. The problem is, you have to know your hair and its condition first. Your hair having been colored before, and highlighted, it's best you ask your hairstylist to do it for you because it'll be complicated. He'll most likely have to seperate the areas of your hair that aren't dyed and apply bleach to them, and the ones that are dyed and have been bleached to maybe use a hair stripper on them to see if they'll get light enough. If they don't he'll have to apply bleach to them again to get it as light as the rest of your hair. Only then will he be able to tone. Like Susan W said, you should tell him what you want, and ask him what he plans to do to achieve it. If you're not happy with him maybe you should look for another hairstylist, but make sure that the hairstylist also has an interest in keeping your hair healthy.

Just remember.....it's super hard to go from Platinum to ANYTHING else. It's taken me all kinds of bloopers and now going gradually to get it to begin to hold color properly. Either it grabs too much or it doesn't grab at all! And I'm only going to a 9 or 8 level blonde.

That color isn't platinum, I wouldn't call it that. It looks like she
bleached her hair outta the box, My hair looked rather like that when I
first did it, expet the ends were more orange.
Take it into the hairdresser. My hairdresser wouldn't do an all over
hair color cause she was afraid of frying my processed hair off. So She
justdid lowlights and toner.
I'd go see a hairdresser and explain the look you may be going for.

Thanks, everybody. If it doesn't work out with the hair stylist, then I'd just go back dark. That's nice thing about coloring one's hair. I can go lighter, but I can always can go back dark. I think dark, healthy hair is lovely for some. I'm eyeing the Clairol Nice n Easy's new Natural Soft Black 123. Have anyone tried it? I'm thinking of going black instead of blonde.

If your unsure,i wouldnt recommend black. The darker you go the harder it is to lighten your hair.If you dyed it black and then decided to go blonde you would have to strip out the color and probably bleach a couple of times, which would be awful for your hair.
But if your sure about going dark,i have used that exact shade. And it is beautiful. Its exactly what it says,a natural black. Most black dyes have a blue undertone.Which if it doesnt grow out of your head blue black its super obvious. But if thats the look your going for thats cool too.

It's not always easy to go back to dark after being blonde. Some blonde
processed hair will not hold color properly and it's just as hard
keeping the dark as it is the blonde. It goes both ways. I like blonde,
but I love dark long hair. Black is nice, it also depends on your skin
tone. I have naturally really dark hair and it made me very very
pale. I even tried doing teh whole goth black thing... bad idea.
Think what will look good on you and what kind of look you may be
trying to achieve. Good LUCK!
