Ugh! So my hair turned into a rat's nest! I got out of the shower, and just
couldn't handle sitting there for so long trying to rip all the tangles out!
So I am going on a vacation, leaving in the morning at 7am! Brilliant me
decides to take out all of my extensions at 10 tonight. I just couldn't
imagine how bad the hair will be after swimming all weekend, and I
refuse to spend my vacation trying to untangle my hair and try to keep it
from getting wet.
So anyways, I guess when I was putting in the shrinkies, they melted. So
when I went to take them out, it was bad, some were just clumps of glue,
so there's nothing I can really heat up and take out. I've tried Amm's
shrinkie residue remover, it took out some, but there's still huge clumps!
The problem is I can't get to the store. Any inventive ideas that I could do
some how?? I think I am going to try some coconut oil, but I don't know if
that will be the same. Any ideas?
ok- get a glass of wine, pout it , sit down and drink it- then take a deep breath and know that before the night is over, it will be ok. stressing is the first mistake we make when it comes to our hair, we stress we mess then we cry, so relax for a sec or two.
then, very calmly and slowly, seperate your hair, take one row at a time and work on one extension at a time, use a small pick or rat tail comb to hold one strand and apply heat to each bond, if that doesnt work, put amms remover on and let it sit, but beofer u let it sit try rubbing it between your fingers for a bit to smush it in the bond, if that doesnt work, try a small plier and crush the bond, but not too hard. once u see it is desolving, use a comb to get the bond and glue out. then go onto the next one, dont try to do too many at one time, dont rush it you will make more of a mess. if the oil doesnt work, try alcohol and do the same thing. if all else fails try acetone.
what type of hair did u use?
remember BREATH BREATH BREATH, it will be alright

Haha, Breathing....Oh yeah.....Forgot about that....
I will try all that, there's just so much, I feel so overwhelmed! But I'm
slowly getting closer to getting it out, my scalp is tingling. Just in case,
can I buy the acetone only at beauty stores?
The only thing open 24 hours around here is walgreens and cvs.
These are tough little suckers, some are real bad between the melt down
and the little matting at the roots. Why do I do everything last minute??
Thanks for your help though!
Edit: Oh, and the hair was something off ebay. It was beautiful hair, I'm
not sure if it was the hair or me, because I put about 50 strands of the
hair that I used for my last ext (which was wonderful) and both the new
hair and that hair looked like sh*t. So I am thinking it was something I am
doing. I think I've just been so busy and stressed out I wasn't taking care
of it right.
I just ordered some lush, so we will see how that works out!
Oh you poor thing, I agree with Tangles- wine time! Hehe, that's my answer to just about everything You can use basic acetone from the drugstore, just put one little drop where the bond is and crunch it with some pliers.
Next time you try those shrinkies try lowering the temperature of your wand or not heating it for as long so they don't melt.
I have had problems on a few occations where the shrinkie melts while I'm applying it. No big deal , I just removed it and put a new one on.
But as for the problem of it melting in your hair , that's a new one to me. So does it appear more like hard glue in the hair now? Never had that problem before, I don't have any great advice to give here.
I do know that I almost always make a mess of my natural hair when I attempt to do my own take down. Especially when the hair is tangled, if you can't readily see what you are working on, it's much harder. Is there anyone else who can help you?
Perhaps you can try olive oil if the acetone doesn't work.
I got most of them out, not all, but most. I think the acetone would have
helped, but I was too tired to go out and buy it and then work for a few
more hours. I just took my time and combed and picked everything out.
It's not perfect, but it's close enough! Some areas are just way more
matted than I thought (good thing I took them out)!
But metalgirl, yeah, it was like taking glue and just randomly pouring it
all over my head. Weird because some areas had none, some were right at
the root that continued about 3 inches down my hair. It was a mess. I
think the tips of the extensions were melting and just going all over.
Anyways, I can live with how it is right now, it's just mostly some areas
with matts and glue that I didn't have the courage to work out! I'm hoping
my living in the water this weekend will loosen everything up. Anyways,
thanks again everyone!! It means the world to me!
