The easiest thing to do will be to use Colorfix to get the dye out - it's gentle on you hair, not like bleach or salon colour removers.  You may need to do it more than once. This will leave you with a lot of red pigment in your hair however, but ash tones should get rid of some of this.

Dye over the Colorfixed hair with a dye lighter than you used before, because it sounds to me you have very porous hair.  If you can get hold of one use a protein filler to even out the porousity in your hair before dying again.  Make sure you do a strand test for both Colorfix and the dye, and good luck.

I have the same problem actually, but my hair is so porous even the lightest of browns turns dark on my hair, and I can't get protein fillers in the UK.

I just dyed my hair today and it turned out very dark brown looking red in daylight. My basic color was dark ash blonde with light blonde highlights. I used 4 natural permanent cream with 10 volume peroxide. The result is not bad, the color is even and warm, but its not what I wanted. My eyes are grey blue and my skin tone is medium beige with no color in the cheeks so I am a 100 % cool type and my hair should be ash brown. What can I do? Will the color fade out cause I used 10 volume peroxide? I dont want to use anything agressive though...
