I have been growing out my relaxer for about 8 months. My only problem
is that my scalp is super dry. I never had this problem when I had a
relaxer but now it seems that I'm always flaky. I have tried EVERYTHING
under the sun. Anyone have any suggestions?
You could try conditioner washing in-between your regular shampoo schedule. Deep conditioner treatments helps and keeping your hair moisturize helps out the scalp as well. A good product line that I recommend for the scalp is Sulfur 8 and also Parnavue T-tree scalp therapy. Also natural oils that you can get at a herb or natural food store works great too. IMO whats going on is that your hair and scalp is use to you getting a relaxer so now since your growing it out your hair and scalp is starving for moisture more likely. HTH
Thanks ThAbAdDeStBaBy. I will give it a shot. But I have tried Sulfur 8 and that did nothing for me. And I do deep conditioners. My hair stylists thinks that maybe I just have too much porducts going on. But its not like I load my scalp up with stuff. Tea tree shampoo does help a little but not THAT much. But it mostly just dry up front and in the part down the middle of my hair.
It can be hard to keep your hair moisturised when going natural because you don't want to wet it. I had natural hair for years and what I used was organic root stimulator Olive oil lotion on my hair while damp. Also I put it on my hair everyday, then pull it back into a pony. I am slightly relaxed now and I love the stuff.
Your dry scalp may be the products you are using but it my also be a lack of water in your system. Up your water intake and take time to give yourself a five minute massage every night.
Lean forward and start at you neck, working up you spine using the balls of your fingers, gently masaage every inch of your scalp. This not only gets the blood and natural oils flowing but it will help you to relax as well.
It depends. Sometimes I wash it once a week, sometimes I go two weeks. I tried washing my hair more often and I was not pleased with the results. Also, it gets tiring. I have A LOT A LOT of hair and its pretty long. The products I usually use are Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo. Redkins All Soft or Bumble and Bumble gentle shampoo and extra rich conditioner. It starts off fine. But after a couple of days I notice flakes in the front of my hair line or in my parts.
Like I said before, I have tried everything. A lot of these shampoo or conditioners people a recommending i have done. I drink tons of water and I always have a silk scarf on my head at night.
I dont know whats up.

Conditioner wash is when you use conditioner as if it was a shampoo...
Shampoo can be drying...that could be the culprit.
Conditioners can be moisturizing and gentler than shampoo. Many people use cheap brands, because it is affordable and you may use alot , brands such as white rain or suave.
