Anyway to get this back to a one normal color? I used highlights first, then Loreal Preference 8G, the Color Spa No Amoninia 8N. This is to cover the splotches of highlights that were horrible orange and red. It is blended now, but the color is awful. No depth at all, and mousy.
Should I go purchase a wig?

It really looks like an ashy blonde to me, but I'm pretty bad with colors. I really don't think it looks that bad. Are you feeling like you want to get a wig? So sorry you feel that way. What are you wanting to achieve?
Your hair does look a little dry, what conditioner are you using? Try Pantene Full and Thick, leave it on for 1/2. I think you mentioned in a previous post that you had already put some product on, yes?
If you want to give the hair some debth then you could add lowlights, but only select a few pieces, where you'd like to see them and use a demi a few shades darker than what you have, try a neutral and then strand test a gold too, or mix them together.
Good luck

OK first of all the color is mousy and unappealing but just looking at those pictures you hair looks dry, frizzy and is in desperate need for a nice haircut. If you cut it.....would you go shorter....possibly 3-4 inches so that is just touches your shoulders or slightly longer? It just looks like there are some shorter pieces there I can't tell whether it's breakage or just a bad haircut. I'd recommend some deep conditioning treatments weekly for 4 weeks or so to help even out the porosity of the hair strands before you try another chemical service. Also use a moisturizing shampoo and daily conditioner too....DON'T USE PANTENE....IT'S JUNK! SO IS THERMASILK!
Spend the money and buy some professional products at a salon...Biolage, Healthy Sexy Soy Milk Shampoo & Conditioner. Make sure the shampoo is safe for color treated hair also.
What color are you hoping to achieve? I see you have some lighter blonde possibly Level 9 in your hair and then probably a Level 7 Ash Blonde also.
It's hard to see your roots but they look slightly darker probably a Lvl 6. If you want to return to a more natural haircolor because your hair is lighter you will need to fill the blonde and Ash with a orange filler to get that underlying pigment back into the previously lightened hair strands and then go over it with a Lvl 6 or whatever level your root color is to return it all to one color.
G'luck

My natural haircolor is 7A. My hair is fryed from what I have done to it. The hair cut was done about two weeks ago from a highly recommended professional. She cut a higher layer and a long layer, and my ends just start drying up from the bottom up. I will never layer it again that is for sure.
After the lady cut my hair she curled it so it did not show up as the way I have it today. I can continue to curl it until it grows longer. I cannot stand to have my hair above my shoulders.
I am spending money on hair products though. I use Rusk shampoo, and conditioner. I also use the Rusk restore/repair leave in condition for 30 minutes with a hot towel on my head.
My hair is always frizzy though. Family trait. I have tried using Neutrogenea leave in conditioner after it dries just to add sheen and silky texture.
I have heard pantene is junk. My hair stylist told me to look for products with moisture in them. So if your hair looked like mine, which product do you recommend from your list? I can purchase it.
Would it help to treat my hair with some type of heavy weekly type conditioner everyday? I try to skip washing it every other day to let the oils come back into the hair. It did not look this bad until I started coloring it this past weekend.
Level 7 Ash Blonde is my root color though. At least I have some of it back to normal.
Here is what it looked like prior to me doing all this stuff to it..I liked this color but it was growing out so fast and then it just got out of control with all the processes I did.
Well I'd suggest deep conditioning by a professional using L'ANZA's 5 Step Deep Conditioning Treatment....have this done weekly for 6 weeks....you will notice a big improvement to your hair's condition. The treatment should cost you about $20 per visit but it's the best deep conditioning treatment money can buy. Any salon that uses Goldwell Color should have the L'ANZA Treatment available...call around to your local salons. More info here NO OTHER DEEP CONDITIONERS COMPARE. http://www.lanza.com/news-pr15.htm
I wouldn't go back to that hairstylist for a cut it just doesn't look good for being only 2 weeks removed from a cut. Your hair looks very fine to me in those pictures and IMO she might have layered it too much removing so much hair that the perimiter of the haircut is not well defined at all and the hair looks straggly and unkempt.
Layers are good and create movement and release weight but I think that stylist went a little too far with layering your hair....honestly I dunno WTH possessed her to cut your hair like that.

Claude, what do you think of L'anza Healing Hair Care Trauma Treatment? It's a leave in conditioner and can be bought on e-bay for a reasonable amount.
Is it as valuable as the 5 step treatment?

Kelly I haven't used it personally but the whole L'ANZA product line was designed for color treated hair to help protect color from fading and rebuild severely overprocessed and damaged hair. When it comes to conditioning the hair nothing I've seen compares to the L'ANZA 5 Step treatment.
Their shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair are great. They also have a fade protector and moisturizer spray for color treated hair that provides UV protection from the sun and many of my clients have used that during the summer months here and it does help prevent fading from the sun.
L'ANZA is one of those lines that is up and coming and rapidly gaining in poularity. They are owned by Goldwell and they tout the L'ANZA line as Healing Haircare and in my experiences it does what they claim.

Just my opinion but Pantene works fine. Get Paula Begoun's book about hair care products and do a little research. Once hair is damaged, it's done, there is no way to "heal" it. All those products claiming to have UV Protection and prevent fading, in my opinion, is just a bunch of hype to make consumers spend more money.
Good luck and I hope the products work for you.

I use a conditioner after I shampoo. Then normally I put in the Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily deep conditioner. I use John Freda conditioner after shampooing.
In the photos, I had not used the Neutrogena Triple conditioner yet.

Gods no! You can just dye over it. It is very mousy and not very nice, but I see no reason why you can't just dye over that. A nice reddish tone would be lovely.

It is horrible. My hair will not hold red for long. At least it would not hold red when I was my normal hair color. It fades really fast. Could I go back to blonde with this mess? Should I just use the semi-permanent hair products since my hair is so dry? Thanks.

Red is notorious for fading, plus more people think they good in it than actually do.I honestly wouldnt go any lighter unless you get a good cut.I do however think the golden blonde in the very last pic was gorgeous.Dont sweat it,your not the first to go a little crazy with the dye.Its a little too fun and easy to change it up.I dont think you need a wig.your hair doesnt look nearly to that drastic point. But a good trim would do wonders. If you dont feel comfy with shorter hair, clip in hair extensions are super easy to make.Plus they would help until you got back to an acceptable length. You dont need really expensive hair for clip ins, just some silky straight from the local BSS.Plus sally's carries the clips to sew on.
Or maybe you'll like a shorter cut.I can totally picture you in a cut like Nicole Richie has.The one that sits on the shoulders, and has a long side swept bang.Good luck with whatever you decide.

I would hold off on coloring for a while. You mentioned that your hair started drying from the ends up. I believe you have some pretty bad damage.
I definitely agree with a post above that says you need to buy some salon products. I would just talk to someone in a salon about some highlights or lowlights to make the color look more how you want it to look. If you are determined to DIY, I suggest waiting 2 weeks, and using a good conditioner in the meantime.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I have not colored my hair since this happened. Two weeks now. I have conditioned it endlessly, including some 30 minute treatments with the hot towel wrap. I will take a photo tomorrow to let you see how it is changing, and post it. It is slowly getting lighter on it's own. I guess some of the colors I put on it are coming out, especially the wash out kind.
I agree, not touching it again for about two more weeks. I have hair extensions now, but they match the blonde color that I had before.
Think I will check out Sally's Beauty supply store tomorrow and see what they have.

Hi, My hair got to be the same way recently!! Believe it or not this is what I did, (I ended up with alot of orangey/yellow spots so for a quick fix at home I used Shimmer lights violet) Then went to Sallys and I bought a Wella toner, thru it in, rinsed and then the brassiness was gone.
My hair is also frizzy, dry, bad heavily highlighted, etc. and constantly fighting that battle Ive bought EVERYTHING until recently, I now use DOVE conditioner for dry dmaged hair, shampooing every other day with DOVE shampoo, and for a leave in I found Soft sheen-Carson Optimum oil therapy at Sally's.(Yellow bottle) Great for moisture and breakage. I also have used Rusk, PM, and EVERYTHING else. But I have to say buying Dove and the leave in has transformed my hair!! Im licensed and get alot of products from Salon distributors, but some hair products doesnt work for everybody and so far Dove has worked the best for my hair-but not others.
