Just wondering what you all do when you want to give your hair a break from extensions.  I've had pinchbraids with synth hair in for a few years and it's probably a good thing to take them out for a bit and go sans extensions to let my hair/scalp recuperate.  Of course I cannot be seen in public with my limp, natural hair , so what do you do?  Anyone wear wigs in between installs?

I had supershort hair and wanted to grow it out. It was months before it
was long enough to wear extensions, so I wore wigs during this time. It
was a good solution for me even though they're a bit hot and itchy. I
have several nice synthetic ones, and it is still a good thing to know
they're there when I'm having an emergency bad hair day.
Here's to the end of my BAD HAIR LIFE!

I just wear some clip ins now, I know it's still extensions, but you can just
put them in before you go out and take them out when you are home, it's
fun too because you can change it up day by day.

I'm taking a break too (but it's because I'm too lazy to curl 22" hair every
morning ), and I've been wearing HairUWear's clip-on ponytails, on
the recommendation of a couple people here. I actually really like them,
instantly transforms my look and they use a nice Kanekalon (sp?)
synthetic, but I'm still trying to get over my fear of being in the
supermarket line and having the pony half falling off or something. Or
worse, having some idiot give my pony a playful tug and having it come
off.... I'm sure some of you clip-in ladies have experienced that! ^_^

And I change my hair color a lot, that's a bit of a drag too. Got their color
ring, and getting a great match is important to having it look like your
hair.

One of these days I'll have to take pics of me wearing them and post to
see what you guys think.

I was thinking about clip-ins, but I notice with clips that my scalp is sore at the end of the day, so it's not really giving my scalp the break that it needs.  That's why I was thinking of wigs, but I don't want something that looks obviously different than what i have now which is a long, flat straight cut.

Amanda I'd love to know about this hair halo!  A while back I was looking into buying one of those.  Maybe that's an option...

It looks cool to me but it seems expensive to buy cos really you would have to buy the colour ring first if you bought it from hair u wear to get the right colour.  I reckon you could make one x

wigs. com has a "loaner" program for color rings.... You technically buy it,
but if you return it within 10 days of receiving it, you get a store credit for
the amount of the color ring. The PutOnPieces synthetic hair color ring is
$25, and the human hair ring is $30. Not too bad, especially when you
consider Bohyme rings are $40.

I LOVE drawstring ponytails and buns.. I have dozens of them, and a ton of scrunchies. I'm basically lazy with my own hair so these are a GREAT way to do something nice and easy with your hair between installs.. or just period.. I wore these everyday for several years.. (Again because I'm mostly lazy when it comes to doing my own hair.. interetingly enough I do not have this issue when I am wearing extensions.. )
