Does anyone here work with these products very much?  I actually had the great fortune of talking with the designer of the PutOnPieces yesterday on the phone.  She was very sweet and I bombarded her with questions. She is going to send me some samples to test with my own hair but I was not sure what would be best.  I am thinking that ponytails are best but she said that they are only synthetic and can't be styled with irons.  Some of the other pieces - the 10 piece sets - she said can be ironed and can be colored.

Just curious who has used these and if you have recommendations.  At this point my other biggest problem is matching their colors to my own hair since my hair was trashed last year by a newbie colorist and I need to try and match the odd colors that have grown out.

That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger or drives you totally insane. :-)

I love the Swing ponytail.  But yes, it is synthetic so no hot irons.  You might want to get one of their human hair add-on pieces.  They are very nice and not really that expensive overall.

I have bought lots of the HairuWear put on pieces, they are fabulous and I think they are the 'cream of the crop'  they do have quite a range and I bought one of each in col 33.  I adored them as the hair shines like crazy and they matched my own perfectly.

I sold mine on ebay not to long ago as I coloured my hair to 613/27 and a lady bought the whole lot off me as a job lot.

I would definetly recommend these.

I like HairUWear too! They shine, I agree with sassyhair, but not "too"
much shine... I got some of the Jon Renau EasiHair pieces, and they were
Barbie shiny, which didn't go away after washing.    I think the
PutOnPieces are the most realistic.

The PutOnPieces color choices (get the ring!) can't be beat either. Being
synthetic and the styling issue don't bother me much, as you can buy
straight, wavy, or curly styles to match your own texture, and I've washed
mine a couple of times, and they go right back to looking like new, no
need to style to get it wavy or curly again.

http://www.about-wigs.com/haloframe.html

I tried the haloframe and I loved it. It gave great bang coverage where I need it. I didn't like the elastic band it had attached to it so I cut it off with every intention of gluing it in. It was very flattering to the face, but unfortunetly I ruined it with a hair iron the first day. I hate to read directions!

The clip-on peices, a weft with clips, are actually over priced significantly. If you're so inclined, you can easily buy the weft and sew the clips on.

Actually for my wedding, before I knew much about extensions, I wore the Jon Renau EasiXtend and they looked great but they're not everyday. For everyday I bought a weft that goes from ear to ear, about 11" and it has more hair on it than Jon Renau's wefts.

Anyway, my point is that these name brand extensions are pricey because of the name. If you need a pony tail or wig than I would go with them but not for a simple weft.

If you look at pictures of Jessica Simpson when she was younger (I know she's young now but even younger and singing for her church) her hair is long, thick and gorgeous.
I don't know. I think Ken messed her hair up and he looks like a good stylist  because he put those extensions in. hmmmmmm something to think about.

Also, don't forget Ashley wears extensions too. It must be hard to be her. Nobody cares.

Karen,

Go with the 10 pieces.  That way you can play away.

Love those things.

Karen, you're going to have a full heavy head with ten peices. If it's for a special occasion than that's what I would do too but for everyday believe me, there won't be much playing.

Thank you Sassy. I am definitely going to take her up on the samples.  I appreciate your feedback.

Hey Moff,

Yes.  He often custom colors them.

Once I called him at his home in LA and he was freaking a little because he had just colored a bunch of the HairUWear hair for Jess and had laid them outside in the sun to dry.  His cat Bailey had just snuck out the door and was making a beeline for the hair.  :-)  So he had to hang up and save the hair extensions.  I thought that was funny.

And yes...its hot.  :-)

Hi...yes.  10 pieces would be too heavy.  I would probably fall over.  HA HA.  But yes...you are right.  Too much hair.

Hi Malibu,

Actually as the story goes, Jessica had just signed with Tommy Mottola's record company and to get her all ready for her first singing appearance she was sent off by someone to a stylist who had colored her hair and it broke off.  Her hair was badly damaged.

Ken got an emergency call in the middle of the night to fly from LA to NYC to "fix" her hair with extensions.  He hopped a red eye and flew to NYC with wefts in his lap that he hand sewed for Jessica while he was on the plane flying to NYC.

That was how he first met her.  9 years ago.  And he saved her hair.  She was so happy with the fact that he dropped everything to come help her, that they became best friends and to this day she will only work with Ken or one of his assistants.

Jessica's mother Tina told me the above story when I first met Jessica 4 years ago on a 17 Magazine photo shoot.  Ken was doing her hair for the shoot and her mom, dad and grandparents were there.  I hung out with them for 3 days and got to know all of them.  That is how Ken and I became friends.  We talk all the time at all hours of the night.  In fact he called me today from his salon in Detroit to give me a quote about a story regarding Jessica's current dark roots.  Which is causing some media buzz.

Also...a bit of trivia.  When Ken was working for Oribe in Miami, Ken was a starving apprentice. To make money to pay his bills he worked with dancers doing hair extensions for them in the clubs.  To this day, several of the dancers he worked with stay in touch.

So he has a long history with extensions and is a master at them.  I learn so much just watching him.

Cool story.  I think it is so stupid that the media is picking on Jessica because she has dark roots.  Lots of celebs do that and it is considered OK.  Seems like they just need something to write about.  I would hate to be a celebrity and be hassled about my hair roots.

No way Karen!!!!!! That is so interesting. Thanks for sharing. I can't believe the "stylist" that colored her hair damaged it so badly. How frightening. I think Jessica is gorgeous. I have to admit, I like Ashley's songs better.

Anyway, I was joking about Ken. I didn't really think he ruined her hair but I was wondering why she wore extensions when she had really great hair. How cool that you spent time with them and speak to Ken!!!!!

As for clip-ins, I wear my weft every day. I used to be a fusion girl but this is much cheaper and probably less damaging.

Have you heard of the Ojon products? I'm wondering what you think of that. I've been using the treatment and I find it good but not sure if it's better than JoJoba oil. Sorry to bring this topic up in this forum.
