creative prom hair for short hair

i have short hair, about an inch below my ears. last year i wore my hair with alternating corn rows and braids with the back done up in those pinwheel things (the way people use to set their hair so that they could have pin curls). I`m looking for another fun, unique prom do for this year`s prom (I have a halter dress). Thanks for your help
