Does anyone know of a good product to use on hair extensions? I use very good salon type shampoo/conditioner.............but..........my hair feels very dry and the texture is yuck!!! I also use a leave in conditioner................nothing is working! Is there something specifically for extensions that works well? I probably shouldnt be blow drying every day either???

Hi princess. Heres what I recommend. I start with the use of a shower filter. It filters out the chlorine in your water and helps prevent the extension hair from drying out. Only necessary if you dont have a water softener or a whole house sytem. Next I recommend using only Non-Sulfate Shampoo. I use Abba products. Pureology also has a great non-sulfate line of shampoo and conditioner. And there are several other brands. I use infusium leave in conditioner or abba leave in conditioner. And I have a new product to try called velvasil that seems to be getting excellent reviews at making yucky hair feel soft!
I blowdry almost everyday. No its not good, but the Bohyme that I use holds up to it.
What brand of hair are you using? The hair itself could be the problem.
huge difference nici. Before I couldnt get ANY hair to last more than 3 months...the hair was usually pretty shot by three months. Usually by 2 months it was starting to look a bit rough and I pushed it to 3 months. (But I also torture the heck out of it) Now with the use of the shower filter and the right shampoos, my Bohyme is 3 months old and still looks wonderful! I cant tell you whether its the filter or the shampoo alone or the combo....but its working!
I have TressAllure hair extensions. I know it is my water! Cant afford a water softner (around $500) Thanx i will try these products! Can i get them online? Or where can i buy them?

princess, you can buy a chlorine shower filter $20 up to $100. The average price range is $30-40. You just unscrew your showerhead and screw the filter on behind the showerhead.
if you're super strapped for cash (like me) you could use one of those pitcher filter thingies. just filter a bunch of water, keep it in an old, clean jug and wash your hair w/ it. it's a little more effort than stepping in the shower, but it's better for your hair and you can use that until you have the spare $30-$40 for a shower filter.
you can even keep one in the fridge (i hear cold water is better for hair anyway) and add tea tree oil and stuff to it that'll help keep down itchies and scalp dryness.

sherrie: i'm definetly going to look into that. you sell them on your site, right? I've been using the Quuen Helene Mint Julep shampoo and its done wonders to this (10.99 beauty supply )hair. It doesn't leave it dry at all, and in combination with the velvasil, I cant ask for more. I'm going on 2 months now with this (plus abusing the hell out of it), and so far so good :)
