i have a question

i had to have virtually all my hair cut sometime ago as it was really badly damaged from excess over bleaching and colouring
now that its grown a bit, i hate my naturally boring brown hair, i wud love to get a few bleach blond highlights or something

now do you reckon that if i get o a profesional and dont attempt to do it myself i shud be alright and it wont damage my now virgin hair?

after all the reason i had to cut it in first place was because of over bleaching.

the reason i ask this is because i really want to grow my hair and the last thing i need is split and damaged hair again!

Dyes are dyes, no matter who does them. Of course if you're doing it at home, there is more chance for overdoing it. I would imagine that professional salon-quality products make a small difference in damage, but not by much.

Listen to that voice in your head that says "don't do it... last time was a blow" Virgin hair is sexy by itself.

You have to choose one or the other, bleached and shorter, or natural and longer.  It's virtually impossible to have long bleached hair (though it may depend on your definition of "long"... chin-shoulder, may be possible).  And only if you spend megabucks with a top-notch color specialist, and follow all of their recommendations for care techniques and conditioning.

Good luck!

Bleach is bleach I am a stylist of 20years, and I hate what bleach does to the hair, I let my clients know if you want highlights that need bleach than start of with a few and lets watch them for a month are two if they do okay then add more, its better than losing a whole head of highlights versus a few. Good luck

NOT TRUE, you can have bleached and long.  Maybe not to your butt long like Dave's but I'm guessing you don't want hair like that anyway.  MANY women have long hair(bra strap or LONGER), and highlight/bleach regularly!  You just need a better stylist/colorist!  I suggest you hang out at the hair color board awhile.

As the others have stated, bleach WILL damage your hair even if it is done professionally.
Virgin hair is beautiful hair in it's natural state, and once you alter it you can't ever get it back except by regrowing.
If you know you have fragile hair you might want to consider henna, it can't make you blonde but you can get beautiful reds, and browns with it, and it strengthens and improves hair.
